Today after work I reached back in the back behind grandpa's old double barrel and pulled out Ol'Trusty, a Winchester model 88 in 308win and knocked 15 years of dust off her and took her to the range to see if the old Weaver KV pivot mount was still holding zero.
The last time I shot it was 2005 at 600yrds which was pretty much my limit with this 3x glass and she proved then her name was still good.
Today i was limited by the range to 100 yards but that was good enough to let me know that if i had to rely on Ol'Trusty for meat she is sure to hold up her end of the bargain.
The action was a little gummy and in bad need of a good thorough cleaning but the first group of five were all inside an inch and three of those touching each other, with the center of that group being one inch down and an inch and a half right.
I'm no marksman but that'll do for the girls I go with.
I cant wait to see how i can improve that over the course of the next few years as I pick up tips from this site and you fine gents.
I'm hoping to improve my skills before my eyes completely fail me, which at the current rate, seems fairly quick.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Im looking forward to getting roasted over neglecting Ol'Trusty for so long

My dad is 82 years old. He has used this rifle for over 40 years to kill white tail deer. His latest was this year, a 6 point, which I was glad to be able to share this experience with him.

Nice.
Enjoy your time while you can, I lost my pops in Feb 2019. Everyday I come across something I want to discuss with him. I hate the years I took for granted. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Same. Lost my father and best friend July 2019. He taught me everything I know about firearms and shooting. He had a model 88 back in the day but sold it. I wish I had it.
