So in my daily search of firearm deals I have seen the Brownells Lightweight BCGs pop up several times. They are very reasonably priced and seem like an interesting option to drive system weight down while potentially softening recoil even further.

Has anyone bit the bullet and given them a try? Have you beat them like a red headed stepchild? How do they hold up?

Curious minds want to know...

I've got two of them. And two full mass Brownells BCG's. Seems like there was plenty of anecdotal evidence floating around at one point that they were manufactured by Toolcraft. They work how a BCG is supposed to. Probably less than 6k rounds total on the four of them, with the two low mass units accounting for most of that.

I have a few, but no nearly as many as rounds as above...

I think they're made by Azimuth. They have the Azimuth rounded back gas key, and the bolt has some relief cuts I've seen on other Azimuth bolts.

I use lightweight BCG's in both my 223 Wylde and 300 blackout setups. They both just run, zero issues and less felt recoil. One is an RCA titanium and one is a Rainier Arms titanium with a POF roller cam (RCA already had that mod). I was, at one point, swapping the same lower between them so matching BCG's were a must. Just run an Odin adjustable buffer and a standard spring. Works like a charm with very little fiddling. I use adjustable gas blocks on both. Each rifle, naked without scope, are sub-5 pounds.
