Ok, I've got a McMillan A5 700 SA Drop in, integrated cheek comb, in desert tan with 700 bdl bottom metal cut out for action screws. Also I've got a bartlein #9 heavy varmint 29" blank that is way too wide for the sendaro contour. But I called my guy who builds my rifles and he said that it wouldn't be a problem channeling out the stock to fit the contour of the barrel. My question is what action I should go with. I'm leaning towards a Stiller Predator and making it a single shot to save$. Considering its an ftr rig, I see no need for a repeator.,,, ? Right ? So I guess what I'm saying is if you had the same parts as I do and wanted to put them to strictly shooting ftr... What would you choose. I've got a pregnant wife and an ankle surgery coming June 5th. Need a good rig to compete but at a budgeted cost. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks AS

Say you go with some sort of remmy footprint action (I am not an expert on F/TR actions).
First of all you will need to back fill your A5 stock in the mag cut out forward or the trigger area. Easily done by taping a round waxed alu tube in place of the action
and backfilling with epoxy filled with chopped glass, micro balloons and maybe some alu powder/talcum. After removing the tube you have a fresh area to bed
your action on. Single shot trigger guard fitting and pillars. Nice bit of arsing around. If your can do most of it your self then costs would stay low.

Just bolt the single shot action in and use a normal BDL floor plate. Don't fill it up in case you swap the stock to a different rifle. I'd look at the Peirce action aswell. Good prices. Or could go with a Trued 700 with PTG bolt and your laughing :)

Not laughing at all. My plans are to use factory bottom metal. I thought about Wyatt's but then realized there was no need... Gonna use factory. I've also got in a drop in jewell. Which I am pretty sure will fit the stiller action. It's just the question of a single shot action.... I'm new to builds so I know very little

Will work very well

I have done 3000 rounds in F-Class in the UK with a Stille Predator & Bartlein & Jewel
It is a very sweet combination.

The Stille Predator has a REM 700 footprint but is a custom action that is really excellent.
An advantage is that later on you can cross the Stille Predator over into other disciplines (eg Tactical / Varminting) since it has tight field tolerances and not tight lab tolerances
I won several matches with my combo.

It will be an excellent combo rig that will serve you very well and you will be hard pressed to develop your skills to outshoot the rig!
