Here was my lefty CZ 452 .22 trainer....

I decided I wanted to try to make the ergonomics of the stock on my trainer match my tactical rifle. I would love to own one of the new Manner's CZ 452 lefty T4's but that was a good bit more than I wanted to spend on this project. So, I called up Boyd's to order a lefty Tacticool for my CZ 452. They informed me that they don't make a lefty Tacticool for the CZ 452, only a righty. Since, I'm always looking for a project and the stock was only $90 I told them to send me the righty and I'd just see if I could convert it over to a lefty.

So, when the stock arrived a week later I notched out the left side for the bolt with my dremel and a file. I then filled in the bolt notch/cut out on the right using JB Stick. It worked amazingly well. By keeping my fingers wet with water as I worked the putty into the cut out it left the finish very smooth.

Next, I had to drill out a spot for the rear recoil lug to sit. You see, the Boyds righty stock is for the 452 Varmint and I have the lefty 452 American. The American has a rear recoil lug while the Varmint has one up on the barrel. I drilled out the rear recoil area using the measurements I took off the factory stock that came off my rifle as a template. I also plugged the hole for the forward barrel recoil lug with JB Stick.

Next, I used some Rustolem Textured paint to spray the stock in order to smooth out the finish between the JB Stick and the wood on the stock.

I let that textured paint dry real good.
Finally, I Duracoated it with OD, FDE, and black.

Here's the finished product....
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and it was an easy, fun little project.

Wow! You made it look easy. As a fellow lefty it's nice to see a bit of engineering. I've been thinking of trying something similar.
