Budget switch barrel

Return to zero at 100yd? Maybe.... ???

At 500 - 1,000 yds? I'd need to see that. :)

Since I read your words and you mentioned Desert Tech earlier let's start there (see video)...

Return to zero works even across actions at 500...

A shouldered barrel does it just as well (google it)...

Please take your own advice and quit now... Please

No, aLI deleted my own post. Mostly cuz yer nor evwlen reading the words I type. . You misrepresent half of what I say. So whats the point ?

Last post…

Pull the barrel 10 times and then re install. Dont rezero.

Shoot a group each time you pull the barrel

Report back with how the point of impact shifts s on the target.

From time to time a rifle needs to be rezero'd anyway, a .1 here or there, Not a big deal to do. Wish life was perfect but only the case on the internet. Not saying a zero can't be true for a long time, depends....

Hadn't shot my Anschutz since spring, "local match director keeps cancelling matches or changing dates". checked the zero for tomorrows out of town match, it was off .3 mil, I don't know why??, it is what it is.

The zero is your reference point, off at zero, off at distance.

If your dope is good you can back in the dope from a distance, often being on or close to it at the reference point/ zero. Not the best way to do it but when I've changed out scopes and didn't have to time to zero the rifle I made do and it worked fine, this is just goofing around with friends, not at a match.

But then .1 off usually still provides a hit on medium sized steel. Adjust as needed.

If you are switching barrels just go with the flow, you may or may not need to reset your zero, life is hard, lol.

OP, I think you are on the right track by buying a quality action to begin with!

Had many cartridges throughout the years. This time I went with 6mmBR on the go-to rifle and have not regretted that decision. Shooting at 1013Y last week with some new friends that I hadn't shot with before. They were amazed how easy it was for me to hit steel in 10-15 mph winds compared to their 30-06 using 210's and a 338L with 250's. Shoot fast before the condition changes, lol.

DTs FAQ says otherwise. Read it myself.

You clearly don't get it. Please watch the video linked in the FAQ's you told me to read and start again.

.3 from the cool spring temps to high summer heat isn't surprising, but if you have randomly wandering zero's you have more serious issues you really should be tracking down.

Really depends. You mentioned being in college and it being your first rifle. You have a good scope, and if you trade it for that rifle you will still need a scope. My advice: eat a ton of ramen noodles and save your money. If you want that 308, pick up a used fixed power SWFA 10x scope or similar here in the PX and save your money while in college so when you graduate you can buy something really nice like an AI or full custom.

Edit to add: if you want a rifle, look here also for a used Tikka CTR, 700, or Howa. Pair it with the scope you have and shoot the barrel out of it while you finish school.

Oh no definitely not my first rifle. I've got a safe full, but it's my first rifle build. The issue with the 5-25 is it just isn't practical for me 90% of the time. 12 power is all I really need for the most part since I'm in GA (I'm very lucky to shoot 3-400 yards) so with that said I just don't think a scope in that size and weight is as useful for me as putting that money towards other parts is

What scope do you plan to buy to replace the PST that will cost you less money?

I gotcha now. Well then stick with the plan and put it towards the build. Keystone accuracy has the Origin barreled actions for $1100 and change with a button barrel last I checked and a few members here speak highly of them. Add a stock/chassis and trigger and you should be under $1500 or so.

For a scope, if 12 power max is what you like, and hunting, a used LRHS may work.

If I can get 800ish for my scope then I'll do that. Do you know how long it's going on?

If I need a higher power scope down the line I had looked at the diamondback tacticals. I haven't looked too hard into it too much but that scope has been wasting space since I sold my 224 Valkyrie. Just too heavy and big for an every day optic for me.
