Well, looks like my m16a1 transfer got approved a lot faster than I expected. More on that later. For now, I need to know what buffer setup to run.

I did a lot of research back when I bought the m16, but I seem to have forgotten a lot of what I have read, and now I don't have the time for the research. I remember that the VLTOR A5 setup was quite popular. The other option would be a traditional carbine setup with most likely an H2 buffer.

The gun WILL be run suppressed, but because it is a 10.5" full auto and Surefire rates their MINI (what I have) for LIMITED full auto use, the gun will be getting a healthy mix. The switchblock setup should cancel out the added gas from the can, so I would assume that this gun should be tuned to non-suppressed specs.

Any input would be much appreciated. Reliability is my #1 priority with softest shooting following close behind. I stockpiled somewhere around 5,000 rounds of mil spec 5.56mm ammo (Federal XM193 and XM855) so tuning for under powered ammo will not be a consideration at this time.

Thanks in advance,

-Bob

Id start with an H2 and you may have to go to the A5 system. What manf barrel are you going to get? Also, you may want to mic the gas port in the barrel. It may need to be opened up to get her to run right.

I did leave a message over at Noveske to get their opinion as well.

On the complete Light Shorty Switchblock 10.5" carbines mfg'd by Noveske, I'm almost 100% that they are running your basic H2 buffers in them out of the box and they run like scalded dogs suppressed and unsuppressed in F/A! I'm sure they'll confirm it for you though.

Spikes runs perfect on my 10.5 switchblock, suppressed or not with Horn 110OTM, SSA 115OTM, 110 ProHunter, 100 or 110 AccuBond, 90 gr TNT.

NOT sure that is the case with 85 or 110 tsx.

Noveske called back, H2 is what they recommend.

Anyone in here have any experience with a VLTOR A5 system?
