Are you looking for something light weight or are you looking for a long(er) range rifle? How heavy of a bullet are you looking to shoot? Do you want a detachable mag or no?
For reasons I don't always remember, I wanted both my rifles to be light-weight. Due to personal taste, I wanted something with CRF, or as close as I could get. That's why my 17 Rem was built on a Daly "mini-mauser" and my 223 is being built on a Sako L461 "vixen". Neither is what many would consider a true CRF, especially compared to a CZ 527. I wanted a floor plate, and that ruled out the CZ. I also like the 3-position safety of the Mod 70, which I added to the Daly. I would have added it to my Sako build as well, but Ed Lapour is the only person offering one, and i didn't think it was $500 cool. I probably could have saved myself some time and money and just bought a Kimber, but where's the fun in that. Personally, I've never been a big fan of the 700 so it was never in the running. If I had it to do over again, I might change my mind.
If you're looking for a detachable mag, the CZ527 Varmint kevlar is pretty nice out of the box. It comes with a 1-9 twist which will rule out shooting some of the heavier bullets.
Personally, I like the CZ too. It's my next project. I purchased a regular Varmint with the 1-12 awhile back and plan to rebarrel it with a factory 1-9 I acquired.
Hope this is of some help.
