Install over sized knob
Nice stock
Bolt fluting
After Market barrel
Bedded
Muzzle brake

I think that would be a nice set up for a nice rig for out to 500 -600 yards

i think he was making reference to the fact that there are numerous rounds capable of 500-600 that are not only easier on the body but easier on the wallet than the 7mm. Maybe something in a 6.5 or a .308.

Unless you're going moose hunting, that's a bit too much gun for 500 yds. Even a "fat pig" 308 or a "wimpy" 223 will be fine inside 500 yds.

True true, I see how that is a problem, But I was thinking about just using it as a plinker build, I'm getting a McMillan 338 win mag soon so that is my hunting rig from now on , I also am thinking about changing the bolt head on the Savage to a smaller one so I can have a long action 6.5x284 or something to that caliber. This is going to be a fun build and I'm looking forward to it! Will post pics of the build in progress.

If it is just a "plinker" I would go for a .223 ammo is cheap and out to 600yds would be fine!
