Whats up guys I'll try to make this short and sweet and I hope those with more knowledge than myself can guide me along... a little about me, the last time i shot a rifle was 17 years ago when i was 13, my thoughts with this build were that I'd like this rifle to serve for target and hunting.

Base Rifle: Remington 700 sps tactical 20"

NEW PARTS TO COME
Stock: Bell and Carlson medalist 4 (m40 style) olive drab black webbing
Optic: Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 Illuminated EMDR, first focal plane, mil/mil
Base & Rings: Nightforce (not sure what to get or how to determine) read something about these having built in recoil lug, not sure if its important...again sorry for my ignorance
Trigger: Timney or Jewel (im open to suggestions on either brand and pound setting for a new shooter)

Do I have the bases covered here? Can I install this stuff myself (meaning is the action going to drop in the new stock or do i have to have any special work done...same with bases and rings) I've tried researching some of this stuff to help narrow down decisions and those choices are listed above. if you know of something comparable that my save me some coin im not opposed. Not sure if i came to the right conclusion for the optic (i based the choice of it being FFP, mil/mil and variable). Thanks in advance for your help...I'm excited for the build i have the rifle already but I just wanted to run these options by you guys to see if im headed in the right direction.

Your action should pretty much drop into that stock. If it needs any fitting it will be very minor and easy to do yourself. But it probably won't.

Nightforce makes good rings but you don't need to spend that much. You can get very nice rings from TPS, Griffin and PRI for under $100 (about $60 for TPS), or perfectly serviceable rings from Warne for $30-50.

I would suggest a picatinny rail scope base. For a Remington 700 pretty much every company makes one. Get yourself a 20 MOA base to start, you will most likely be happy you did. I'd suggest TPS for a nice but relatively inexpensive steel 20 MOA rail, about $60. I personally like the Ken Farrell rails but they are around $115 and functionally don't do much if anything better than the TPS (I use one on a Howa, for which TPS doesn't make a rail). There are easily 10 other companies making good to great rails as well, if you have a preferred flavor that's fine.

Your EMDR scope will be an excellent starting point that won't require an upgrade any time soon.

Save money for ammo.

I have the non-illuminated version of that scope. It's a really good scope in its price range. Some other options to consider - but not necessarily better! - are:
-Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 - but the FFP model costs $950, and only FFP is a direct comparison
-do not get the Viper PST 4-16x50! The glass quality isn't very good. The 6-24x has noticeably better glass.
-SWFA SS 3-15x42 - plenty of reviews here, $700, no illumination
-Burris XTRII 3-15x50, probably as good or better, but costs more ($1000) and requires 34mm rings

The Weaver EMDR is one of the best picks in that price range.
