Gunsmithing Building an AR upper with Vltor MUR

I have a Vltor MUR upper receiver for my AR15. I want to put on a 4 rail handguard and am considering the Larue or Daniel Defense Lite rails. Does anyone know if these handguards are compatible with my upper receiver?

I read the directions on the Larue and it doesn't look like it will fit due to the anti-rotation piece. I couldn't find directions for the Daniel Defense Lite rail.

Many people run them with DD lite rails. There should be no issue using DD rails and the MUR.

IIRC Vltor changed the design of their MUR upper because of issues with at least one popular rail setup, however my old brain doesn't remember which brand/style it was.

Edit to add...The change was a couple yrs back and had to do with the way the left side of upper was left with a protrusion.Looking at the left side of a new one the 'hump' went all the way to the front IIRC???This being on their billet uppers. Think now they are forged aren't they????

I would think if you sent Vltor an email they could tell you for sure.

I run a MUR with a DD M4 rail. It works great. Not sure on the lite rail.

do you have the forged MUR or the older billet? The billet ones will NOT work with a Laure rail.

I don't know when they changed. I bought my receiver in 2007.
