Decided to start a new thread tracking progress. Opinions are always helpful.

    TIA!

Well.... I debated about finishing off the basement area where I will be working and decided I just don't want to. I like the charecter of the basement as is and will be going for a more "bunker" feel.

I already installed 2 racks and began transfering my things from the misc places I had them stored. I iwll also be running 2 work tables, 1 rolling table and 4 other rack systems not as big as the two pictured. Pics here are of the start, getting some power around the work area along with lights. still working on it, but will post pics as work continues.

starting from scratch, you can see the 1st box mounted

and all the wiring the right way ( I think!):

Nice looking job!I know you are looking foreward to getting finished.About the ground wire, age, temp changes, wear and tear, all can work your conduit fittings loose, loosing your ground.A ground wire would be better. Also,if you ever do more conduit work, consider turning your boxes longways, where your conduit enters and leaves the ends, this makes it easier to get the receptacle in the box.Hope you enjoy your new room, Pete

Nice job, looks like it will be very functional.
In the pic showing the lite switches the conduit looks copper in color, is that just some glare from the flash?
Nice piping job especially if it's your first time. The problem with coming into the bottom/top of the handy boxes is the screws for the receptacles hit the connectors so you would have to shorten them.

I tried to go green but they don't make a solar powered or Hybrid Ass Assasin yet. The only choices I had were 120 or 240!

    True that!

Dont want to be critical but just as in shooting, there are right and wrong ways of doing things. I would heed the advice of running a seperate ground wire. Also the offsets in the conduit going into the handy boxes appear to be rolled in the wrong direction. The offset should allow the conduit to lay flat against the wall and the connector to go into the knockout. About 1/4"-5/16" is all that is needed for the correct fit. It's also a good idea to run the outlets on a different circuit than the lighting.

Looking good so far! Love those sams club benches! I have two of them and two of the rolling cabinets that go underneith them! Very happy with my setup so far!! The price to value ratio is very high on them in my opinion!!

What is the sheeting you have laying on top of the bench??

No one here here understands your ass-lingo, boy.

    Re: Building the man cave

True about the screws hitting the connector, but after running conduit for over 30 years I find it easier to cut off a 6-32 screw than to fight the space restrictions caused by the conduit entering the side of the box. There just ain't much room left after entering the side with a connector. But,everyone has their habits, and lessons to learn. All in all, that will be a really nice man cave. Re: Building the man cave

wheres the stripper pole and makeshift electrocutioners rack made of old box springs? and wheres the pit to keep the fat girls in while they put the lotion on their skins? "do you think a geisha's free to love?"

    Re: Building the man cave

Looking like a good start. No criticism here, but for all those outlets I'm thinking it would have been more prudent to run 14/3 as opposed to 14/2. Just to split the load in half, and essentially negate the possibility of tripping a circuit. Running the copper (bonding) wire is not a bad thing at all, either. Nor is it too late.

You going to wire in a smoke detector too, while you're at it? Just a thought.

    Re: Building the man cave

Nice Job Rolex. Couple of little nit picking things, why not use 4sq boxes and put double duplex's at each box? Running conduit is a good idea, but a bit of overkill in your own basement.
Yes you should pull a ground wire through conduit. You should also pull 2 hot wires and share the neutral and split the circuit you have in half. Unless your panel is full.

    Re: Building the man cave

Forget the conduit, forget the boxes, forget the ground wire. Run what is called trade name plugmold. Google search "Wiremold", More receptacles, ground wire included and much cleaner looking. It can also be attached on the bottom or underneath of cabinets, bottom of your bench etc. i would also recommend 4 lamp lensed flourescent fixtures with a high kelvin lamp. Much better lighting and dispurtion.
