Bullet/Brass Purchasing

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

Midway for .308. I like to use Winchester to beat up in my LR308.
Midway sells bags of 50 .308 for < $19.00. Right now they are out of stock so I'm ready for them to come back in. I'm thinking about getting more than I need, maybe much more.

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

I have been really happy with Midsouth Shooter Supply.

They have had the best price for the 8-lb jugs of powder that I use. Maybe only by a dollar or two, but every little bit helps.

Contrary to popular internet rumor, they will ship powder and primers in the same shipment.

They had a labor day special that had free hazmat on orders over (if I remember correctly) $ 150.00.

I haven't tried powder valley, but it is only a matter of time till I do. Also 3rd generation shooting supply is another one I need to try. They have some pretty good prices also.

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

thanks for the info. I will check those places out. I have a place to pretty much get what I want called Outpost Armory, but I am looking for something that is not retail pricing. Any other recommendations are welcomed.

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

Cabela's can have some pretty good sales too if your watchful. One place to stay the hell away from is Gander mountain...

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

Once I dealt with Powder Valley I stopped shopping. Good prices and great people to deal with. If you want to max out the fill of a hazmat container, give them a call. They'll work with you to get as much powder and primers as they can into the box so they don't have to charge you a separate hazmat fee.

Buy powder and primers at the same time from Midway and they'll automatically sock you with two hazmat fees. This is because they have to ship them from two different location/sources.

Powder Valley will also stuff as many bullets as they can into a USPS flat rate box. Upsets the mail person when she has to deliver a 50# box of bullets to your door.

Powder Valley also charges "ACTUAL" shipping charges as they pay to the carrier. No profit center like Midway and others that have fixed shipping and handling charges.

Like I said, after my first experience with PV, I was so pleased I don't need to look elsewhere.

Expect to order another 100# Plus of mixed Powder, Primers, Brass, and Bullets in the next week.

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

I watch the "for sale" forums here and on AR.com's "equipment exchange." Plenty of other sites have "for sale" sections where you can find some really good deals it you take your time and are slightly flexible.

Re: Bullet/Brass Purchasing

Powder Valley all the way. If they have it in stock, i order from them, even without knowing shipping charges, I know they are going to be resonable. Just tonight I ordered 1,100 more bullets from them cause I was out of 178 BTHPs
