Hi all,
I just ordered several 500 boxes of 107 SMK's. Every box is a different lot. Does this matter? Have you seen performance changes in the same bullet from lot to lot?

Thanks,
Bang

Probably but Id message the seller and ask what the fucks up with that. Opening three different crates just to get you varying lots?

Whenever I order bullets I make sure that whoever I talk to understands that I want the same lot # and I get a name.

Sierra will be fine. They are very consistent lot to lot, I've never seen a variation of BTO greater than 0.005" and that was from one lot 5 years earlier than what I was currently using. I currently have 142 SMK's from 3 different lots .. measured 5 randon picks from each box....and all their BTO's measure within 0.0015" and their OAL's are within 0.003". Definitely good enough for most everyone except the most discerning marksman.

Hornady on the other hand.... I recently opened a box of 147 ELDm's from a different lot and ho-lee-schitt. Bullet BTO was 0.012 longer and OAL was 0.010 shorter. That will definitely throw off a BC and seating depth!

I'll say! Gotta watch out with Hornady. I sure do love em, but definitely buy in bulk when doing so. Here's two completely different lots of 143 ELD-X bullets. Different length, different ogive, different tip, different box. They both shoot great though ??‍♂️ (I accounted for the seating depth change).

Yeah exactly. I'm really glad these 142's absolutely hammer out of my Tikka. I'll be buying a ton just for the convenience of essentially "set it and forget it" with my seating die.

keep the distance to the lands the same if they are different lot to lot.
