I have a RCBS hammer style bullet puller, but it does not work for my 7mm WSM. Even though I have the magnum chuck assembly.

I am looking to get one of the cam-over or collet styles. Anyone have any experience with one. I'm looking a the RCBS, Forster, or Hornady.

Re: Bullet Pullers

After using an RCBS collet type for many years, I ordered and received a Hornady "cam" type puller a couple of weeks ago. I haven't used it that much. But I think I'm going to like it better.

Re: Bullet Pullers

I was using the hammer type for a while but got sick of the powder mess and effort required. I've been using the Hornady Cam-Lok puller for a while now and would never go back to the kinetic pullers. Easy to setup, simple and effective in use.

Re: Bullet Pullers

Ive got a Hornady, only down side that I found is that trying to find a #7 collet for 308 was difficult to find one in stock. Finally got one off of Amazon for like 15 bucks shipped. it was here in 2 days from order and I used it the other day to pull down 20 rounds in a matter of 5 mins or so once I got it set up and learned that you dont have to have it gorilla tight to pull the bullet.

I got 1 the same time I placed the order through Midway. I got 4 collets in all. They had them all in stock.

Re: Bullet Pullers

I called Sinclair and they said the Hornady cam puller was the popular one because it's pretty fast. I've read some reviews that the lever is breaking on the Hornady. That's why I was leaning toward the RCBS. I don't intend to do a large volume of pulling.

Re: Bullet Pullers

I have the Hornady Cam-loc and used it a number of times over the past several years with no problems. It is like the professional way to pull bullets as opposed to using the knetic puller.

Re: Bullet Pullers

RCBS one works well, just like most everything they make.
.
On a side note...I'd recommend EVERYONE stay away from the Cabelas Kinetic puller. Only used mine a few times, last time I used it the cap shattered and sent pieces everywhere. Fortunately nothing was injured.

Re: Bullet Pullers

+1 on the Hornady. Of all their products, which for the most part are very good IMO, I think that the cam-loc puller is my very favorite! And I use it frequently LOL

" I've read some reviews that the lever is breaking on the Hornady."

Anytime you hear/read of people breaking ANY popular reloading tool you should assume they are using "gorillia" work methods. Some folks can damage iron anvils with silver spoons.

Both collet and impact pullers have a place on my bench. Few handgun rounds and some rifle rounds don't have enough exposed bullet for a collet to grasp.

The same thing happened to my RCBS kinetic puller

Re: Bullet Pullers

We are now looking at these cam/collet style pullers for two reasons.

A) the RCBS locking collar on ours just broke a few days ago. CS is good, and they're sending another one.

B) Since it broke, we started using the one my Grandfather made for me years ago. Made out of steel. Lot's of vibrations/ringing in it's use, which led to the lead (styphenate) problem as explained in the "Let that be a lesson to you" thread.

So yeah, while I've used the "hammer" style for years, we here are looking to step up. Would just rather shoot them though, instead of pull them.
