Bullet recommendation for 7mmRM

Re: Bullet recommendation for 7mmRM

168 SMK or 168 VLD Berger. I doubt you'll be able to stabilize the 175 SMK. But, if you can borrow 10 or so from someone to try (without buying 100) you might try them and see.

Good luck

Nope, that'll work.

I've also had great luck with 162g Hornady A-maxs.

I actually run 70.0 grains of Retumbo under my 162g A-max. I've run as much as 73.5 grains, but chose 70.0g for accuracy reasons. I have a 28" barrel however. If your barrel is a lot shorter (24") then a slightly faster powder (H1000) will work well.

If you haven't already, browse through the Sniper's Hide Reloading Depot. You should be able to find some good starting points.

Hodgdon's data center kinda sucks because it is catering toward deer hunter loads instead of long-range shooting loads. If you insist on using it, choose the 170g bullet option and work up loads based on that data for your 168g SMK.
