I have some 162 Amax and they are scary long. I have not loaded any yet. I would like to look at different bullets and dimensions. If I set this up for these long bullets and they do not shoot well for me I need to know what bullet to turn to and how it will fit my rifle.
What besides 162 amax are you shooting past 1000 and are the 162 BTHP The same oal / ojive ?
ETA; this is in a short Remington action.

9.25 26" factory Remington.
I would like to shoot it a while before having a barrel put on it with a chamber better suited for this.
I suspect 9 will be the number in that case as well.

I use the Sierra 168SMK with great success. ALso used the Berger 168 but the SMK shoots as well in my gun and costs a bunch less.
Both were from a 1 in 9 twist. Never shot anything heavier than a 140 in my Remington Model 7 hunting rifle though.

2.835" OAL for the 168.
Powder H4350 but, as the load is well over hodgdon data max, I will not pass that along. All I know is that it is safe in my rifle.

AMAX 162`S are one of the best bullets made....this is the first accuracy complaint i have heard....
if your twist is rite for them.... i would question how you are measuring powder....

Thank you for all your replies.
I am not displeased with the Amax but rather unfamilliar with what I consider advanced loading. Replies have been very helpful with good info.
