i had some work done on my old sporterized 03A3, and am trying out some different loads for it. long story short, i had a load group pretty freaking good at 200, but 100 wasn't any tighter, just about the same. do certain loads take a little range to truly stabilize, or is something else going on?

Re: bullet stabilizing question

Actually, the are over-stabilized at the muzzle and need some distance to "calm down". 03a3 is a 10 twist, you're probably shooting light bullets, very fast. Arrows do the same thing, first ten yards lots of flex and wobble, then they straighten out.

Re: bullet stabilizing question

I would guess it is more of an optical thing. You likely have a target that will allow you to hold better at the longer range. Optimized for longer range shooting.
