Burris Fast Fire on AR?

Re: Burris Fast Fire on AR?

I've got a fastfire II mounted in a predator tactical offset mount by Matt Burkett on my lwrc repr. Have it mounted just forward of the folding rear BUIS underneath my USO SN-3.

I do use it with the cover because the glass, tends to get dirty since I'm shooting a suppressed Lwrc repr 20in 308.

Great little sight, for snap shots out to about 100-150 it is a great sight. Can be a bit,of,a challenge to get zeroed and has a really odd wheel shaped tool to zero but if you just use a chamber boresight laser you will be on paper fast.......just superimpose the dot in the sight on top,of the dot on target. Best little sight for the money. You could buy a trijicon rmr for 500 bucks but in my opinion just get a kick ass mount like the predator tactical that has steel protective wings and it'll be tough to break.

Re: Burris Fast Fire on AR?

I have 3 fastfire 2's on different weapons. I find the dot to be too hazy to shoot past 50 yards. The auto brightness feature is always too bright for my liking. Im slowly transitioning away from these on my carbines. I also wish that they had an auto off feature because I always forget to turn mine off. Then you have to completely remove the sight to change the battery. The method of adjusting the zero also sucks on these. I think that they are more suited toward handgun or shotgun use and thats where mine are headed. The new fastfire 3's supposedly fixed all these issues that I've mentioned(top mounted battery, 3 brightness settings, and easier to zero). If these refinements are gtg then it will make an excellent choice for a carbine and the price is great too.

Re: Burris Fast Fire on AR?

I have one and I am about to send it back to get replaced. I had mine on top and at the 1 o clock position on an AR and mounted it to my FN tact 45. Its not bad for close range stuff, like mentioned above the further you go out on a sunny day the dot is a lil hard to see. For the money the next time I get a small red dot like that it will be a doctor or RMR, depending on its purpose will also consider another vortex red dot for the same money as the burris (200).
