Anyone have one? Burris has a nice military/LEO discount and it brings the price of the FastFire to a rather nice level. I'd just like to see what everyone things of them.

Anyone know of any good rail mounts for them? I hate the big-ass thumb screw on the side of the mount they offer. I'd be looking to mount one of these to a .22 Browning Buckmark and don't want extra crap protruding.

I've got the original version, with a 2 moa dot on a Fusion 10mm 1911. been thru about 300 rounds from mild to wild. Has held up well for me.

Re: Burris Fastfire II

Ive got two, one on each of my mid range scopes one on a .308 and one on a 5.56 both on badger caps. They both work great out to a 100meters for me.

Re: Burris Fastfire II

I have run Burris FF2 sights on my 3-gun shotgun, two different AR-15's and one pistol and they are very well-made, reliable little sights.

As for mounts...you are likely to have issues because of the way that they have to mount to any rail. American Defense, Larue and others make throw-lever type mounts, but like the factory mounts, they all have some protrusion on the side of the mount whether its a thumb screw or a throw lever.

Re: Burris Fastfire II

Sorry to change the pace, but I bought a fastfire 2 from gander mountain. Mounted it on my browning buckmark, sited it in at 10 yards then stepped back to 20 yards and was two inches high. So I resited it in at 20 stepped back to thirty and was two inches high! So I mved up to ten and was 2 inches low. Went through the whole process again with the same results and returned it for a refund. Probably was just a lemon but turned me off to it.

Re: Burris Fastfire II

This does not sound like any fault of the sight. Its only going to be zeroed at one range, and as long as it stays the same at that range its working as designed.

It should be noted, they either come with or without a picatinny mount, then you buy the adapter mount for whatever gun you have. That is how the two guys have them replacing their rear MKIII sights. The mounts are like $65msrp.

Re: Burris Fastfire II

That's what happens when you zero a sight at close range then move back- the angle of divergence between the line of sight and the trajectory of the bullet are as such that as you move back you'll notice a rise in impact. Eventually you would get to a point where the arc of the bullet flight would again intersect the line of sight from the optic.

Example:

Now the blue line is the "line of sight" and the red line represents bullet trajectory. This is for someone's load of .223 but it will work for our purposes. Take the blue line and move it down to about -50 in inches (left side). That now represents what you had happening. The "example" would show a zero of about 62 yards, and again at 150 yards. Anything between those two would be high

I don't recall exactly, but I want to say that about 22 feet will zero an M24 and 118LR for 100 meters if you have nothing else available and your zero is in question. Just an example of how this all works.

Nothing was wrong with your sight.

Anyway, sounds like good reviews! I think I might order one before the 1st of the year (they allow only one item a year apparently).
