I have the Four X 1.5-6x42, so my general impressions might be useful.
It's a good hunting scope; mine is mounted on my .308 Ruger Scout. The glass is nice, it has good performance in low light situations and the German #4 reticle with the illuminated center dot works very well for my purposes. It is said to be based on the old MTAC 1.5-6x42, which got pretty decent reviews. The tactical style reticles in the MTAC version never appealed to me for hunting, but when the Europe-only marketed Four X became available through Camera Land at such a steep discount, I couldn't pass it up. The turrets on mine don't have very distinct clicks and once I set the zero, the caps won't come off again unless I need to re-zero for some reason and so far, the scope has held zero just fine. If you're concerned about country of origin, it's made in the Phillipines.
The 3-12x56 configuration is not very common in the price category (Hawke makes a couple and there may be a few other budget options) but you shouldn't anticipate that the Four X will perform like a Steiner or MeoStar either, so if you keep your expectations modest you probably won't be disappointed with it. Just noticed that Burris now has a Fairfield IV 3-12x56 that came out recently, but no idea how it compares.
