I'm trying to decide between the Burris XTR II 1-8x24 scope and the Vortex Gen II PST 1-6x24.

Which one is a better quality scope? I'm looking to mount it on a .308 rifle for short/med range use. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. At this time I'm only considering Vortex and Burris as they both have lifetime warranties on their scope electronics which nobody else seems to offer.

Also, can anyone with either of the 2 available reticles for the XTR post a couple of pics at 1x and 8x side by side?
I'm trying to decide which reticle I like better.

Thanks,
-Cuz

I have the XTRII 1-8 on my DD5V1 .308 and it is great. I am going to add another for my DMR type .223 set-up as well. I have the ballistic circle dot. The BCD reticle is good to about 600 yards and does have daylight visible illumination for shooting fast at close targets. But I think I am going to go with the Ballistic dot for the .223 since I won't be shooting at speed with it up close (will use a side mounted Red dot on that rifle).

Wow, that's a big difference in how the reticle looks at each end of the magnification on a front focal plane scope. That's exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks.

We have a few Burris XTR II 1-8 right now and with Burris' $100 promo it's a great deal.

Mike mounted up a BURRIS XTRII 1-8x this weekend. It worked great and for the price it's even more impressive. Pics taken with an iPhone 7.

No problem at all. FWIW, I have my switchview set so that straight up is 5x. That lets me hit 1, 5, and 8 at speed. I use the BDC and windage bars at 5x with ease. On flat uniform colored backgrounds, 2.5x is useable for me, but 4x does seem to be where it is usable on all backgrounds.

CSTactical,
Not sure why, but I can't see any of your pics.

Does anyone have a couple of pics of the SFP Ballistic Dot reticle? I'm told the pic on the Burris website is not an accurate depiction.

Thanks.

Thanks. I was able to see all the pics from a web browser. Tough to decide which focal plane I want. Gotta to more research...

Bumping this in case anyone has any new info regarding comparison between the XTR II 1-8 and the Gen II PST 1-6.
I actually ended up buying the Burris RT-6 and like it a lot, but it's more of an AR15 scope than a Scar .308 optic so I'm still interested in the XTR-II or Gen II PST.

Thanks,
-Cuz

Can you post pictures of the RT-6?

I have the Burris XTRII 1-8 and the Vortex Razor 1-6. No PST, but the Razor glass and the Burris glass are absolutely neck and neck. I had the Burris on my DD .308, and the Razor on my AR-15 SPR type rifle. Ended up liking the Burris so much that I switched the two. I shoot my AR-15 much more than my .308, so I put the Burris on the gun I shoot more. The Burris is great glass, no fish bowl effect, and no heavier than the Razor. The handiness of the extra 2x is great. Last week I was shooting steel at 630 yards with the Burris, and could spot hits at that distance on 8x. So, for now, the Razor will live on the less deployed .308, and the Burris on the more shot SPR AR-15.

I have a pair of the 1-8's in FFP on a couple 3 Gun rifles and I've compared it to a lot of optics out there. This scope punches above it's weight class every time.

The glass compares to a lot of more expensive scopes. And with the 34mm tube, 8x magnification, the capped turret system, quality and durability of this scope, made by LOW in Japan, I don't see any reason to own another optic in this magnification range.

If I won the lottery tomorrow I wouldn't replace these scopes.
