I haven't been able to find anyone here talking about these. Does anyone have one and how do they compare in glass and repeatability to other popular scopes ya'll have used. I hear the glass is really good, would be looking at 4-16 or 6-24x models. Are they worth looking at?

Re: Burris XTR scopes

Glass is excellent, good repeatability. I like having covered turrets. My only gripe is the entire ocular housing turns when adjusting through the magnification range, but that is more of a personal preference thing. Price is also a bit steep compared to say a standard Viper with similar features for half the money. Otherwise, I'd recommend them if they have the features you're looking for.

Re: Burris XTR scopes

They are good scopes and they have one on close out at SWFA for $599. The are mil/inch and for that money I chose a Bushnel FFP Mil/Mil a few weeks ago, even though I have a XTR on another rifle. Bushnell was cheeper at Natchez also.

Re: Burris XTR scopes

I have an XTR 312.

- It has awesome optics. Really kicks the ass of my 3,5-10x40 Mark 4. Contrast, sharpness, vividness of the image is all very good.

- I find the turrets too easy to turn, but that's just me.
I prefer a little more resistance.

- The set-screws you use to zero the turrets are way to small, and they will strip. Get replacements.

- The whole ocular moving when you zoom can be a pain if you are using Butlers. With a bikini-style, not so much.

- I have the ballistic mildot, and I really like that reticle.

- Illumination (if you want that) is very good.

- Seemingly impossible to break, takes alot of abuse. Mine sits on a 338 Lapua.
