Just started using an Elite 1500 LRF, a few things that bug me, the display is useless at night and I don't like the monocular design. I think that the Leupold RXB-IV might be more of what I am looking for... What are the major differences between switching to a binocular LRF from a monocular.

Re: Bush Elite 1500

Even with the bino styles...the read out is only in one eye and so it take some getting used to.

The question is, are the Leupold RXB-IV quality enough as binoculars to replace what you use now for binos? I hate carrying both. So if they aren't, the smaller, more compact monocular styles seems like the better option. I also had/have the Elite 1500 ARC and they were as accurate and usually ranged faurther than the RXB-IV. Display is not as good as the Leupolds, but I never had to range at night or in darkness.

Basically, if you feel that you're going to need to be carrying both. Keep the smaller versions. If you can afford a bino style LRF thats glass is bad ass enough to replace your current binos...do it.

Re: Bush Elite 1500

I have played with a couple different sets of Leupy RXB-IV (binocular RF) at different times and neither would range as advertised by Leupy. I found them to be overpriced and way overrated given the quality of the results I was able to obtain with them, including from rested positions where I could limit movement that screws with accuracy on your average LRFs/LRBs. I could range barn-size/house-size objects reliably to around 1,000yds or slightly more, but never got consistent readings on targets out to 1,500 as it supposed to be able to range. Forget reliably ranging any game-size targets beyond 4-500yds (and likely you'll be limited to less on anything smaller).

If you want a quality pair of LRBs, take a hard look at the Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC 10x42. Check with Scott at Liberty Optics or Mike at CS Tactical (both site sponsors) for pricing and availability info before you buy.

I'll second those. Got mine for Xmas and I was getting consistent readings on non-reflective grass covered hill sides that coyotes and deer were standing on. Hit 1581 METERS as the farthest and in the 1500m area quite often as I was watching them. Glass is great, has a blue hue to it that takes some getting used to, but over all...I couldn't be happier. They are better than my previous binos, and better than my previous LRF and now I only have to carry one set of optics.
I think if I get stable and try hitting the side of a steel building, 1600, 1650 or 1700m could be possible.
