Between the two? Rock River. They make some of the best hobby grade (1:9, not quite spec parts, reasonable reliability as long as you don't run them too hard) ARs.
However for just a bit more you could snag one of the new production small-pin Colt 6920s (looks like the chrome lined RRAs are around $900-1000 and the 6920s are around $1100-1200) and you'll end up with a rifle with a better reliability track record and a solid resale value (though RRAs hold their value pretty well).
I should probably note I'm not a Colt Kool-aid drinker. I own an RRA, and recomend RRAs to friends. I do not own a Colt. I just think the Colt's are pretty good deals these days.
Again I have no dog in this fight and this above is just my opinion. I have no bias towards any company. (I add these disclamers because these kind of "what's better" threads always end up with someone taking the whole thing personally)

RRA....for two reasons.
1) Rock River's I have owned and worked on were generally better quality than BM. They offer more options than BM. YMMV
2) If you ever have to take a barrel off a BM, better say your prayers. They have a 900 lb gorilla that puts their barrel nuts on. I end up having to put them in the freezer before things loosen up.

Build your own and you can have something with a good trigger and an accurate barrel. You will also appreciate it more.

Had mine for 7. Just used it in a couple two gun matches and many other, slower fire outings. Not one failure to chamber, fire, extract, eject. Several types of mags and ammo have all run without problem.
That said, while I'd buy another Bushy, I was tempted recently when I found a sale price of $815.00 for EITHER the Bushmaster or Rock River M-4 variants (semi only of course).
For the same price, I'd have sprung for the RR.

I've had Colt, Have Bushmaster and Rock River. None of the three have ever failed. The Bushmaster has been through 7 or 8 three gun matches and two Team Matches at Tiger Valley and not one problem. The others have not seen near as much use.JMHO

Build your own AR, that's the best advice given in this thread, my M4gery is Olympic, RRA, BM, LMT, DPMS, and Colt, it works, it's accurite, and there's a bit of pride in it, IMHO to say RRA is better than BM or vice versa is retarded, niether make all there own parts, or make none at all, there just assemblers of the rifles.

I have recently purchased two RRA A3s and imediatley noticed the differance in them to the Bushy's. I run a Tool & Die machine shop for a living and can testify to you that the fit and function on the RRAs are much finner held tolerances.
The adjustable rear sight on all three of my Bushy's act the same. You start cranking them up from the bottom and they will tilt for a while and then jump up massivley and are not accurate untill I get past this jump point. The RRAs move smothley and consistentley throughout there respective travel.
I run Orlite mags in all my AR15s. They say Orlite mags will not fit Bushy's. They fit two out of three of mine. The reason they don't fit the third is because the 45 degree champher on the bottom of the mag well is out of spec (to small) and therefore will not allow the mag to reach the locking bar. I re-machined the mag well champher (put it in spec to print) and the orlite mags fit just fine.
So these two problems tell me that there are quality control issues lurking in the back ground.
Another problem I found with one of my Bushy's when I removed the front sight tower. Both tapper pins were at a sevier sweeping angle but not the same. In my machinists oppinion this is do to the fact that they are not center drilling before they drill and ream these holes and therfore the drill wanders and the reamer follows.
As Bushmaster is one of the country's largest suppliers of AR type rifles and parts to big brother they must be able to crank them out fast and cheap. They may have grown a bit lax in there quality control department over the years. In the past decade or so we have seen many start up companies building AR type rifles and parts so it is just natural that they will hold tighter tollerances to win public oppinion and government contracts. But I have no doughts that all Bushy's rifles and parts pass the governments tests and standards.
I started this by saying I abuse my Bushy's. All mine have crome lined barrels and bores except my RRAs. To my knowledge you can not get this in the RRAs so I will be changing out and scraping my RRA barrels to Bushy barrels. I will also be changing all three Bushy A3 carring handles to RRAs for the better funtioning rear sights.
So as the gentelman said above and in my oppinion, you would be money ahead to figure out what you want and build it yourself! Besides, although there are many rifle manifacturers out there, there are only a few actually making the parts but to different manifacturers specs.

For fit & finish, trigger, RRA.
For reliability and 4150 barrel Bushmaster. Triggers are "generally" shitty in the BM. RRA are very reliable but if I were to choose between the two it would be the BM for battle. Ultimately I would choose my MRP but that is not a RRA or a BM.

I owned a Bushmaster Predator. Tight chamber kept jamming on me. Sold it. I have had many barrels now with a Wylde chamber: flawless! No jams, no muss, no fuss, extremely accurate.
MOst all the RRA barrels have Wylde chambers. RRA uses barrels from respected makers in the Wylde chambering...nuff said...get a RRA rifle, upper, etc.

RRA, 4000 rounds and counting without any misfeeds or issues. My Department issued us Bushmasters and You can see the quality difference when side by side. RRA definitely.

The best answer is if you are going to buy a complete gun, go LWRCI M4A2, Colt 6721 or 6920, Bushmaster M4, Stag, American Spirit Arms, Rock River Arms, actually read this, it is long but very informative, Best AR-15

Great information in one forum.... and I agree... I love LWRC,Noveske,larue, POF and so on... Just curious if RRA and Bushmaster are about equal in performance, fit and finsih(besides the barrel material 4150 vs 4140)

I have an RRA that has never had a malfunction, but its still got a pretty low round count(500ish). If I had to do it over again I think I would try to find a 6920 cuz I like the way Kool-Aid tastes.

I built my AR15 with a RRA mid-length upper (5.56x45mm)and match trigger. Fit, finish and operation are outstanding. Accuracy is great with the chrome lined Wilson barrel. I've never owned a Bushy, but I'd go with RRA anyday.

Take a look at what Bravo Company as to offer. Excellent prices on Mil-Spec parts. Spend the extra money, you will be happy you did. IMHO A Colt 6940 is worth every penny.

I have 2 RRA. the A4 I ordered and the other I built. No problem with reliability as long as the magazines were not too banged up.

I don't mind either the Bushy or the RRA's but for a good deal with AR's is to buy a LMT upper and LMT lower, push the pins in and you have a real sweet rifle for the cash.
