I realize that this is not a Schmitt Bender but will this scope suffice as a decent UKD scope for tactical comps.

Anyone have any experience with this as far as being able to see trace?

Do they track reasonably well.

Is the round mil dot precise enough for ranging in a tactical comp.

Are they rugged/robust enough for tactical use?

How is their warranty service?

I'm just coming to grips with the fact that I'll never own a three thousand dollar scope. Just curious how close this would get me. I can get a pretty good deal on them right now and seems like a reasonable scope with lifetime warranty for the money.

You would probably be better off going with the 3-12 model, the image becomes blurry around the 20 mark with 6-24, but the tracking is good, and its very rugged, but pretty heavy. I think there is a video of lowlight torturing the 3-12 on here somewhere. However it doesnt have a zero stop feature, which turns alot of people off i think (myself included), if you're set on a 6-24 power, i suggest the new sightron s3's now have matching turrents and tactical knobs in 6-24x50 or the Vortex Viper PSTs, both great scopes and pretty clear at the higher magnifications. Good luck deciding

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

I have the non-ffp version of that scope. I never noticed a blur in mine, but then again, my eyes may not be the sharpest, and I'm not an expert at this stuff...

My best description is to say that the glass is very noticeably better (brighter and clearer) than say a BSA or Barska scope, and not really noticeably worse than a Mark 4 lr/t. Personally I cannot tell any appreciable difference in clarity or brightness between my 4200 and Mark 4 6.5-20... (Let me disclaim... I am not an expert, and this is not based on anything scientific).

I have mine mounted in on a factory 308, which hops pretty good on each shot, so I haven't been able to follow my shots... but have seen trace through it watching others shoot. I have ranged various sized steel targets out to about 700 yards with the mil dots on my 308, and hit them... so they work good enough in my book.

In my opinion the turrets work great, nice positive clicks and return to zero well. For the money I though it was a good buy. My only big gripe is the lack of adjustment on the scope, which if I remember is around approximately 42 or 44 moa on my scope. On my 308 I had to use a 20 moa base, and then shim the scope base a bit in order to make it reach 1k yards.... but it works.

I see that the ffp model is $300 off on Midway, might have to pick up one those to check it out.

Never had to use Bushnell customer service, so can't answer questions about their warranty, etc.

The 6 to 24 ffp is also on sale at Natchez shooters supply for 629.95 down from 992.31

I just bought one through midway then found this.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Elite 4200 line of scopes. I don't think you can go wrong with anything in their lineup.

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

I got the discount(paid 700) but could have saved another 70 dollars had i found the other deal first. Not a big deal just would have been nice, Still can't complain about the price or the scope.

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

Ive had both the 3-12 and a couple 6-24s.

The 3-12, IMO is a nice mag range and package, but the eyebox was super tight on the scope I had. No likey...

The 6-24s I had didnt seem to suffer from that issue. Clarity at 20x and above was fine, though I usually ran mine on 12-16x. (Im not a magnification whore!lol!)

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

I just sold my 4200 SFP 6 x 24 tactical scope because I have a FFP 6 x 24 comming from Natches, will be at my door tomorrow.
I compared my FFP scope side by side to my Leupold 8.5 x 25 VX3, while shooting groups at 300 yards with two .308 rifles as it was getting dark.
The leupold edged it out a little in the light gathering dept. but otherwise it was pretty close in optics. For the money I don't think you could go wrong, because the next step for a scope with these features is the $1800. range.

That was my experience as well.

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

I aslo really like the 6-24x50. I just sold one, it wasn't the ffp, but for the price and features it's hard to beat. Mine traced pretty good. My Leupold is better but 3 times the price.

It also seemed to track very well, I took it out to 1000yd and back and my POI was always within reasonable proximity to target. at 565yd I was within a couple inches of where I was before and I think wind had a lot to do with it as well.

The Mil dot is just like any other Mil-dot and if you can range with one then you will be fine.

Check out Lowlights review to see how tough these scopes are. I have no regrets with mine and if I had a rifle for it I would not have sold it.

Re: Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 50 FFP mildot mil knobs

I have one on my Sako Quad 22 and for the money I think it is a very nice scope. I wish it had a zero stop but on my 22 it isn't a big deal.

It is clear repeatable and tracks well. The eye box is small above about 16-20x but it is still very usable.
