Hey guys, I read a lot about the Elite 1600, but not much on the 1500. Are they any good? I have a line on a few of them at a good price that I would pick up if they are worth having.

Thanks,

-BOb

Thought you were running Swaro LRFs?

I just ordered my 1600 today and am excited to try it out. No info on how it compares to the 1500 though. For the price and what all you get it's pretty hard to beat the 1600 though.

Thanks,

Wasn't looking to list this here, so this isn't a "for sale" thread, but I would need to list these at $350 shipped to make it make sense for me to pick them up. Just curious if there would be any interest in them.

yeh they arent bad little units, i have used my mates one in the past with great success.

with the new 1600 out its hard to look back at the 1500 unless finances were an issue.

But, end of the day both units are great value for money.

If you can buy them NIB for that kind of price and sell them here...I'm sure that there will be interest. These units, when they were still being made, sold for upwards of $450-500 new. They do work very well, so if a person has limited means and still wants a quality LRF, the Elite 1500ARC is a good bargain.

Do a search through the For Sale ads. There have been a couple Elite 1500 ARC rangefinders come up for sale in the last 6mo or so. If you get an idea of what they sold for, you might better assure yourself that you can get out of them what you'll have invested.

As to the initial question of are they any good, yes, for the money they are very good. I bought one after lasing a dark green oak tree at ~950 yards (don't remember the exact range, it was last year) and getting a solid reading with a demo unit. I have also lased buildings at over 1600 yards with accurate results.

On the down side, the objective lens cracked while it was on a tripod next to me as I fired a .338 Lapua. Could probably be a little more robust in that department.

Re: Bushnell Elite 1500 ARC LRF

Ive had great luck with my 1500. Optical clarity isnt up to leica or swaro (obviously) but the electronics are great. Ive hit trees at 1300 before and probably close to 1700 on reflective targets screwing around.

The different modes work well too, I especially like the Target mode where it will ignore softer targets and lock onto the hardest target it sees. Ie trying to range something through limbs and brush.

Only downfall is the LCD is black, its fine as long as its light out but when its dark its useless, and tough to see at dusk. I do prefer this over leica's red though because I have a very hard time seeing theirs during the day which is when its used most often anyway.
