Capped turret hunting scopes. Both with plex type reticle and no illumination. Similar magnification ranges. 4-16x44 vortex and 2.5-16x42. Is the bushnell worth the extra money?....about $300 diff. Better glass?

The added benifit of field of view on the Bushnell at low power makes it more versatile for all hunting situations. I haven't looked at them back to back, but I'm betting the glass on the 6500 noticably edges out the Vortex. They are basically the same size and weight. Best customer service with the Vortex, but overall build quality probably goes to the Japanese 6500. I wish they made the 2.5-16x42 with the G2 reticle. Wouldn't ever need to touch the (capped) turrets.

I will say, I'd hands down go for a Swaro 3-10x42 with BRH reticle over either of them if you are considering an $800ish budget.

2.5-16x42 bush this is the best scope, get the mil ret. can use as hold over with a little work.

Then there is the 3-12x44FF your choice of ret. mil, G2 an more.
