Bushnell Elite Tactical 4200 3-9 model

So I thought i noticed the problem the other day but I was on sandbags and not a real steady source of holding my gun, so I postponed sighting in my rifle.

Tonight i took it back out for a second look and I think my knobs are somehow reversed.

On the top elevation knob it says to go UP, adjust to left, and DOWN to the right, but when I turn to the left, it goes down, not up.

Same with windage knobs, Left goes right and Right goes left. Am I reading my knobs incorrectly???

Or does it mean if I am hitting to the right, and want my bullet to go left, adjust the knob to the left setting which is in return moving it to the right where the point of impact is?

......HELP

Yeah I was speaking to Shooter21 on the Shout Box and it seems as if I was right when thinking it was almost reversing the adjustments to your POI.

So I am hitting the target to the left, I will adjust to the right and bring my POI to the center... One of these days I will understand this stuff!

In fact they sent me a new model which had replaced my scope and was significantly more expensive. </div></div>

Actually I think I am in good shape, Ive been here aiming at my wall with an invisible gun and scope thinking about it and figuring it out.

Say I am shooting at a target and hit to the left. At that point in time, I am wanting my POI to move to the right. So per my scope, I will adjust my knob to the right, moving my crosshairs to the left where the POI currently is, thus bringing it to my -0-

ETA: In a nut shell, my scope is saying your hitting in this spot, move it the opposite way to bring her home.

Think "Bullet Impact" Left or Right.

or Bullet Impact up or down.

My bullets hitting low so I want my bullet impact to go up. Adjust the knob up. etc.. etc...

Exactly. It not marked for moving the reticle. Its for shifting your impact on the target.

For example...You fire a group @ 100yds, impacts group 2 inches to the left from where you were aiming. Course of action is to adjust you IMPACTS right by making 8 adjustments right, if its a 1/4 moa per adjustments.

Thats what I was going to say, Ive seen lots of scopes marked this way to prevent confusion also.

I don't know of any scope or sights that are marked for the direction of the sighting device's travel, pretty much all are marked for what the movemonet does to the bullet's impact.

I always ignore up/down/left/right markings. For every scope I've had, turning the knob clockwise moves the reticle towards the knob (think right hand thread), and vice versa. Just shoot, then move the reticle to where the bullet hit.

I think there are some Euro scopes where it is opposite though.
