Who owns/has owned the Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binoculars? Do they range well and how is the optical quality? Whats your opinions about them and are they worth the money?

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

I just ordered a pair should be here next week. After allot of research and testing of some models this seemed to make the most sense to me. I will merge two pieces of kit into one. Watch the youtube link below seems to confirm faster ranging times and no issues really ranging long distance. I'll put something up next week on my views of said product.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

They range very well for the price.
Optical quality is good.
Build quality is nice.
The price is spot on for this product.

You will not find a product on the market that comes close to this unit for a similar price. Period.

IMO, If someone told me they have a budget of $2.5k for a pair of Leica geovids I would tell them to buy a pair of Bushnell Fusion and save their left over cash for a decent scope.

mmmmm Nightforce NXS scope + Fusion LRF binos OR Leica Geovids...

To me its not a tuff choice.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

Do you guys know how the Leupold Rxb-Iv Rangefinder Binos stack up against the Bushnell Fusions?

Also are there any Nikon RF binos on the market...didnt see any on their website so i am guessing not but figured i would ask.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

I picked up a pair the other day and had to put them right back down. "To me" the blue tint was too much. But I also use bin's for birding where color rendition is a must. I have to wonder how well they perform for glassing. Though the RF does seem outstanding... Tough call.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

Yippeekiay... i have heard the same thing from several different people...that is the tinting is irritating but that the unit as a whole is sharp.

Honestly i think i am just going to save some money and purchase a Nikon 1200 in which there is no question the glass will be top notch.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

Actually the blue is a byproduct of a coating on the prism for splitting the beam from other incoming light. It can be controlled but would probably make the price go up. From a guy at Leica:
"The Geovid binoculars have on the prism a beam splitter coating separating the laser beam from the light which is used for the image itself. Due to the red shift caused by the eye safe laser, there is a slight color cast towards the blue/green built into the optical path to balance this. This has no negative influence to the contrast on the image. In practice for most people, an image color which is 'moved' slightly to blue/green appears more rich in contrast."

Added: Now that I think about it, the blue tint in the Fusions may be the reason the LRF works so well while the Geovids, with a more neutral color cast, are a bit more limited in their range. (Just guessing really).

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

I looked through a pair at the local Wholesale Sports this week. They do indeed have a blue tint. If I were going to use them only for observation they would be disappointing. If I buy a pair they would be used 1st for ranging and 2nd for observing. The price was $800. Not to bad for over the counter.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

I would rather have more coin in my pockets and deal with a slight blue, over forking out way more money for something that does the same thing with less blue.

I went out today and glassed for a good 5 hours with my Fusion binos. Not once did the glass bother me. But thats just me everyones different.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

I looked at these Binos twice at my local dealer before buying a pair. I was able to look through them side by side with a pair of Leicas and some swarovski binos. The glass is clear but definitely blue. I almost did not buy them because of the blue tint on the lenses.
When I got them home and used them in different light and distances, the blue bothered me less and less. The range finder is great, much better than any I ever used.
Then my wife took and hid them, I won't be seeing them again until Christmas :-(

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

Well my Fusions showed up yesterday. As stated there is a slight blue tint to the glass but overall clearity and contrast were OUTSTANDING. The unit ranges ultra fast compaired to my Leica and most of all is accurate. Vman you are right, you can buy these and a nightforce all for the price of a pair of geovids, seems to be a no brainer to me. I'm going elk hunting next week and will have a more detailed post after I've had a couple of weeks to field test. Overall first impression even if money was no option I think that I would pass on the Euro glass for these Bushnells, wow thought I would never say that about anything Bushnell. But as usual that's only my pinion and I've been wrong before.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

yea, there is a blue tint to them but after a few minutes of looking thru them, you will over look that. One thing i do not like is the Eye Cups. hard, sharp edged rubber. don't like that but can't complain on price and functionallity of the 1600.

Re: Bushnell Fusion 1600 Yard Laser Rangefinder Binocs

Just for a comparison, my Swarovski ranged a 20"x20" sign at 1000 yards and a 6"x3' fencepost at 970 yards, ponderosa pines at 1500 yards. It is a joy to look through, very good optics but just a monocular. I get by with just it, no binoculars. Not saying it is necessarily better, didnt have the Bushnell side by side to compare.
