Yes, another "what scope" question...

I know the HDMR has been beat to death around here, and most everybody is aware of its strengths and weaknesses. What I'm curious about (perhaps some Hide retailers can answer) is how the Elite 6-24 FFPs with the G2DMR reticle compares.

I've got a 4200 6-24 FFP with mildots and am very pleased with the scope, with the exception of its elevation...and the new 6-24s "fix" that with 20 mils available. Combine that with updated lens coatings and the new reticle and it seems like a great value.

Just curious of the thoughts of those who have used and/or looked through both...

I have an HDMR G2 and it has a little CA but yellow in color, no blue or purple and it is almost not noticeable, you really have to look for it. Other than that I really like the scope. Hard to beat for the money. I like it better than my friends NF (for the money), but that is just my opinion.

I'd like to hear from some on the 6-24 G2 as well. I'm considering it for the next purchase. I have the HDMR and love it but given the price the Elite 6-24 is being offered at it may be the one...

The 6-24x50mm Elite Tactical is an excellent scope.

With the HDMR you gain some travel and the locking turrets. I have it on good authority that the glass quality and even the coatings are the same between the two.

I did a review on the 6-24 Elite Tactical and I am working with a HDMR right now.

Re: Bushnell HDMR vs. Elite 6-24x50 FFP G2?

I have both of these scopes. I think the glass in the 6-24 is equal to my HDMR. the 6-24 does give up a little on the low end of the mag range but to be honest the FFP reticle isn't really usable much below 6 anyway. The only thing you gain is FOV.
I like the size of the knobs better on the HDMR but don't care for the locking elevation knob.
The 34mm tube gains you done elevation but limits you on ring choices.
I have to assume the HDMR weighs more (I haven't weighed them) because the thing is built like a tank.
As with most things there are advantages and did advantages to both.
I like the 6-24 G2 a lot and don't think the HDMR out does it in terms of quality at all.
I think at dealer cost the 6-24 was about $350.00 less. At that price I think it's the best sub $1000.00 scope money can buy right now with a great reticle. I just ordered a 3-12.

I purchased the 6-24 and have been very happy so far. I briefly compared the 2 in the store and couldnt tell much difference. I did not care for the HDMR turrets at all. Maybe in a 10mil revolution, with finer clicks, but not the way it currently is.
