Hello gents,

I read a post some time ago on this forum where a member said that his bushy xrs could not focus below 75 yards or so - he called Bushnell and they said that the xrs could only focus down to 75 yards by design. However, I've also read posts where guys said that they could get theirs down to 25 yards. So I am confused...I want to buy this scope, but it is not cheap and many of the matches I shoot go down to 25 yards. So, I'm looking for owners/users of this scope and I'm asking them this: how close can you get your xrs to focus? Are these scopes really only engineered for 75 yards and out, or are there manufacturing tolerances at play here that allow some guys' scopes to focus at closer distance? What's the deal?

I would also like to know if you have an ers (3.5-21x50 with a 34mm tube) can you focus any closer?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Sig

My XRS will not focus on a 3" target at 50yds. Sure you could identify it but it was very out of focus. Whereas my 3.5-15x50 Nightforce F1 has no issue focusing as close as 10yds.

Mine focused at 30 yards...but I needed to turn the power all the way down.

This makes me more hopeful that this scope will work for me. I guess I should have asked what power was being used at these distances..If it can focus at 4.5x at 25-30 yards, that will work for me.

Anyone else have experiences?

Last week, I turned a whistlepig into atoms with a 139gr Scenar at about 20-25 yards, on 4.5X, obviously. Keep in mind, these damn things are tiny...maybe 3-5" long and weigh 8-12oz, and those are pretty big. The XRS had no problem resolving down that far. I had two other friends who did the same thing that day.

That is some nice shooting; it's really hard for me to see the reticle that well at 4.5x.
