Ok so I have a question. I went in to the local gunshop today to get flip ups for my NF and they didn't have any. Talked to the owner to order a set, and he informed me that they no long make any larger than their size 50 (not a 50mm OBJ) and he couldn't even order them.

Is this complete nonsense? I ask because I've done business with him for 4 years and he hasn't talked out his ass once. He has always been spot on.

At any rate, I'm going to have to order them. Can someone tell me what size they use on their 3-15x56mm?

I find it kind of weird that they would quit making them. Seems to me that more and more big objective scopes are out there and the demand would be there for them.

I don't know.

I'm going to order a set now from Midway before I can't, if this is true.

Those big plastic ones kept breaking for me - too flimsy for proper outdoor use. Might be one reason to stop making them.

Their 2010 catalog doesn't list a size fifty, they list a 48 and a 51.
The 51 is 65mm diameter and the 48 is 63.5.

I don't know if they ever made anything bigger than a 65mm diameter, but I sure have never needed one that big.

Well, they have to have made bigger ones than that. I had them on a USO with 58mm Objective, I'm not sure what the external diameter is, but I'm sure its more than 65mm. I seem to think it was a 53.

Its' possible. While the absence of any Objective Flip Open size over "51" on the "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Butler Creek Flip Open Chart</span></span>" doesn't prove that the largest sizes have been discontinued, it does lend some credence to what the gun shop owner said.

Already in my basket on Midway. Grabbed them right after long range dogr posted the link. I completely forgot about that post.
