Just wordering if anyone else has notcied in there area, that walmart sells ammo in bulk 100rds or 250rds. Here in central alabama i have found that the walmart stores don't stock the same ammo as the store 20 min's up the road. I've began to notice if you go tothe stores closer to the bigger city's the ammo is not available in bulk at all. But as you travel out to the stores that are in small towns they sell the ammo in bulk and even have REM umc stuff in 250 rd boxes. Does this sound like the area you live in. I live midway between B-ham, al and Montgoermy, al so I have been in a lot of stores over the past year and have noticed this trend here. The store in a little town call Millbrook has seemed to carry the most ammo of them all.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

Hell wea re town of 60,000 and we have two supercenters and neither have the same shit. They stock it all scientifically but each store is a masterpiece in marketing believe it or not. In the items that both stores do have the prices are different. You can buy one item on the uppity part of town and it is priced higher than across town on the lower socioeconomic side. Same shit...same town but the prices are different. They spend tons of money in learning the buying habits and psychology of their customers. That's how they decide to put what items by the registers. Gotta get that last buck out of ya and their knowledge of their customers is SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!. But hey i live in Arkansas...home of the Walmartians

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

just what teppo said. visit different walmarts around and different areas will have totally different stuff. some fishing departments are incredible, some hunting departments are awesome and then some don't have either. Our walmart here doesnt even carry a duck call. The walmart in morgan city(1.5 hours away) sells decoys, cases of shells, waders, blinds, calls, camo, wader driers,or anything else you could want for duck hunting. They know what is selling where.some walmarts have crap for bait selection, others have so many baits that they even stock stuff from local makers

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

Our WallyWorld has begun to carry some ammo. 2 years ago you couldn't buy crap in the ammo department. Now they DO HAVE some on display. I think they changed managers.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

I know the one in Casper and Sheridan, WY used to carry reloading supplies. Don't know if they still do. Not a bunch, but RCBS, Nosler, Sierra, IMR. I think they had primers too.

My local Walmart in Franklin, NC carries reloading supplies. Not a big section but they do have them. Nosler, Sierra, Hornady, RCBS, several kinds of powder, and primers. Not bad prices either. Varget is $24.95 per lb. I went in the one of the local gunshops and they wanted $39.95 a pound for Varget.

Tons of RCBS and all the major bullets/powders/primers and everything else you could need at my Walmart, and cheep as hell. The prices of everything are generally 2/3 that of any local gun store.

Wonder what they would say if you told them it was for your zip-gun?

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

They sure dont in Dallas. It would be nice, my local store does not even carry rifles.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

That's interresting! That explains why the closest one to me is like going to a Mex-Mart. We have a lot of Mexicans workers around Chilton, AL. working the peach fields and what everelse they can find. You have to hear Spainish the whole time your there. It don't bug me to bad until you turn a corner and they go from english to spainish.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

thats an old trick parents use. they are talking about you KHOOKS. we have three supercenters. one sells guns, all sell ammo. i just went in a few days ago and they are starting to get stuff back in stock. plenty of bulk packs of 223, 40 and even a new brand on the shelves, fiocchi. still no 45 in the one i went to, but i always check them all when i need some. not sure where the food comes from, but i love the clearance racks for clothes and the food is lower than the place up the block. i didnt see any chinese working there, but my mom works the deli. ill have her count the chinese someday

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

Our Walmart sells/sold RCBS presses and S/G wads and shot. Problem is, once they're out, they don't restock. The Mgr is definitely antigun, and is biding her time, selling off her stock and not replacing it.

Right now, the branch is hanging by a thread, because people are getting bent about no longer being able to find what they want at WM.

I think it's time for locals to petition WM HQ for a new mgr.

Greg

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

No reloading materials at our Wally World, but my last couple of trips they've been keeping Winchester White Box and Remington UMC 9mm and .40 in stock. I also saw some UMC .45 in stock yesterday. They've had .223 for a while now, too, and they're getting more selection every few weeks. I still haven't seen any .357 mag, .38, or .380 on the shelves.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

Well I guess I'm lucky on the ammo at my local store they have had about everything - .357/38. It's been in very small amount and you have to keep check. I found that at my local store Thursday afternoon was a good time to look appeared they stocked that day. Now there keeping a good supply of the common stuff. Still have to check regurlarly to get .380/357/38.

Re: Buyin ammo at walmart

greg i agree. call corporate, that will get their attention. today you gotta maximize profit potential. if someone in Arkansas heard about herpolitical agenda being applied to their stores profits... well, your good with words, send a letter off and see what happens. i see stuff at walmart like a simple lens pen. then i dont see it.. i ask and they say its not being restocked. i say why not, they have all sold? that should be basic marketing and sales. i spoke with John Masen. really nice guy. he said his mom was a merchandiser. she told him that when he came home from a show, he should have only one thing left of every item. i was thinking it would be better to sell out. but if he sold out of anything, he didnt take enough of it and missed a sale.

our local dollar store sells beans and rice. they get new beans on monday and are sold out by wednesday or thursday. they never get more than the 10 bags each monday. surely someone somewhere would say... hey, send them 20 bags next time. same with root beer. 50 2 liters of coke always on the shelf. the 10 of root beer always gone. does the guy add more root beer? nope. same 10 bottles everytime. he is a route salesman, isnt it in his financial interest to add more root beer?
