Buying a Handgun is Hard

I still don't care about that. I"m still getting my Colt SAA Peacemaker.

Dude, buy an older one. Plenty of barely used to NIB offerings out there that go back a few decades.

*****

I just swung by my closest FFL and picked up my new (old) Python today. It is a factory bright stainless offering, and comes with a free ticket to 'suck it' if anyone doesn't like older American wheel guns... ;)

I dropped mine on a concrete floor last Thursday and bent the rod that holds the cylinder. I don't know the exact name for that part and am finding it difficult to source a replacement. I have all three of them - .22 short, .22 long rifle, and .22 magnum. When I carry them, I use the .22 long rifle and the belt buckle. Of course, most folks think it is just a "cute" belt buckle.

My plan is to call the factory for some assistance - when I get the time.

Apparently I am supposed to take some photos of my recent purchase US property marked flintlock and percussion pistols. I got them out of the vault last night and hope to take some photos today . . . but I have an entry door sitting on my Shop workbench with a new refinish job. If the "varnish" is dry, I can deliver and install it this morning. It is the exterior front door for a new lawyer's office. They thought it was going to be done Monday, so it is kind of a priority.

Korth or go home…

While one cannot argue build quality superiority of the Korth, they do nothing for me aesthetically. I don't say that lightly, because I've looked into purchased a Korth several times just for the build quality.

It's like women: I'd much rather have a Southern Belle with an extra five pounds and a twang, that can hunt, fish and cook... Over a European crossfit model who only eats gourmet options from Whole Foods, and leaves the room in disgust when I fart.

I’ve been fascinated by those new Chiapas Rhinos.

The low-axis barrel is pretty cool and thee are a lot of outside the box features.

Probably be my next handgun. If only because I like advanced design and Thinking.

Yeah... well... performance trumps ugly when it comes to guns. Who ever said that an AI or an AUG or an AK is beautiful. Nope... But they work. I have lots of ugly guns. Glock much? They have to shoot. And hit. Nice wood, engraving and inlays are a bonus.

Now when it comes to chicks. Then you require looks and performance. Because it may perform great, but you don't want your friends think you're riding a hogger! And having two paper bags in the bedroom is a PITA... One for her and one for you in case hers falls off...

Get a S&W mountain gun as they pretty nice and no hitlery hole if you are concerned. Been seeing a lot of Rhino on consignments lately and not sure why. I shot them and not impressed compared to my Dan Wesson.

have a fixation on grip safeties so springfield XDs. think they have stopped them and all are now hellcats. really dislike the company and have heard nothing good about it from dealers and smiths,but... 1911s just aren't what i want to carry. XDs,for me,are ok appendix, triggers livable, fit is GTG and as accurate as i am capable of.

I have one of the long barreled one of those and put a Vortex AMG UH1 on it and it comes out looking like something out of a 1980s post apocalyptic wasteland movie set.

hOw’s it shoot? My guess is that it has a very different but very favorable recoil impulse given that it’s right in line with your arm, sort of the way an A.R. 15 changed everything by being linear with your shoulder.

Definitely be interested in a review if you want to post it or send me one!

BUT, S&W IS THE REASON WE HAVE TRIGGER LOCKS ON ALL NEW GUN PURCHASES. THEY'RE TRAITORS TRAITORS TRAITORS TRAITORS!

Bill Ruger gave us the 10 round magazine restriction. TRAITOR!

And Walther built guns for the Nazis. So did HK and FN. You can buy one of those, if you’re a Nazi.

Real talk. Out of any industry I can think of, the gun industry has the worst customer base. Intentionally entering the gun industry is a masochistic endeavor.

This is the correct answer. But I prefer the vertec frame and rdo compatible

S&W Clinton locks?

May i suggest Grand Power

Hoping to get mine and my dad's optics cut. Did the drafting for a college class last semester.

Picked up an xd months ago as a fun throw all the parts at it project gun.

Still haven't shot it.

I'm sending mine off to patriot defense next year for a cut.
Considered them but per some emails my dad sent them had some worries. At one point they weren't sure they had ever done one without removing rear sight dovetail (they had per their venom sight picture).

This is what I figured out. Holosun k footprint / rmsc footprint. Note the firing pin retaining plunder vertical hole in front of rear sight dovetail. Barely cut into that.

I'm ok with the dovetail removal.
Could always get a plate from global ordinance as well

Dovetail plate? 🤮 Ugly

If I get it milled it's direct mount. Base of sight is ~3mm below top of slide.

Losing dovetail I lose the Dawson precision tritiums I have. Not needed with rdo unless I decide to take it off later for whatever reason.
