I just bought one of there aluminum "Bullet Proof" cases and threw my 700 with a Lupy 50mm scope in to try it out but seems verrrry tight to close. I was told you are not supposed to cut the foam in these??? If any one has any experience with these please let me know your thoughts on it.

I have one I put my 2 O/U Brownings in. Had the same problem so I cut out the top layer of foam. Problem solved.

Re: Cabelas "Bullet Proof " gun case Question

The foam should compress to hold the rifle inplace during transit. By cutting the foam for a LOOSER fit, the foam will then not compress unless the case is bumped, and the rifle inside will then move. The pressure you are feeling is the foam compressing around the rifle to hold it in one place. If you are having a really tough time closing the case, Wheaties may be required

On my way to get some Wheaties now. Basically I should have no issues with it being as snugs as it is? If so I'll latch it down and go with it.
Switchblade thanks for the help

Re: Cabelas "Bullet Proof " gun case Question

I have a Pelican 1750 that I put my Rem 700P in. It has a 50mm Mark 4 M5 on it. I have to sit on the case to get it to close. It is very very tight. I was worried at first, that I would mess up my scope or zero, but it hasnt moved at all. Just grunt down on it...
