First post from a new guy.
Needing a lowcost trainer/practice rifle for my Win Shealth 308 I bought a Savage .22MKII-TR at the local Cabelas.
Came with a green stock,EGW flat mount and has a threaded muzzle break at the front. I pick it up on Tuesday. They matched Dick's 449 price and additional 25 off on top of that. Good deal for how it came. I don't understand the need for a break at the front.....must be a cool factor I guess, but I do have a threaded front end now.
My question is does anyone make a flash suppressor for a .22 rifle??
My state told me big no for a sound suppressor.
Looking for a scope next.

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

There is another thread on here in the Rimfire section about the Cabelas exclusive MKII. The muzzle break is just for fashion. The EGW flat mount is a plus, but some don't think it is enough to make the difference between $400 plain Savage MKII and the $500 Cabelas. Cool that you got a break on the price though. Before you get a can for it, you might want to check the threads. I believe it was threaded different than most cans can fit onto. I picked up the Savage TR in 17hmr and have put a harris bipod, an egw base and a Vortex 6.5-20x50 for the same price that Cabelas has their exclusive on sale for.

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

How did you get them to match Dicks price? I like the Cabelas version and would love for them to knock $75 off of their price. Thanks.

MKII FV - $225
Boyds Tacticool - $90
EGW base - $40

You just saved a ton of money and you didn't even have to switch your auto insurance to Geico. Congrats!

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

Yes but you don't get
Tactical bolt knob
Barrel threaded
Flash suppressor (not needed but still kinda cool)
Fluted barrel

And when you figure that the cheapest place for me to get the MKII Fv is $255 and when you order a Boyds stock you still need to buy bottom metal at around $40 shipped you really aren't saving all that much.

MKII FV $255
Boyds Tacticool $102 shipped
Egw Base $40
Bottom metal $40
$437 and you still don't have the features listed above.

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

OR....... you can get the Savage MK II. Not the Cabelas exlcusive.

Savage MK II: $388 shipped from Bud's
EGW Mase: $35 shipped

And you still get:
Tatical Knob
Fluted Barrel

I showed the saleperson a Dick's sale ad with thier(desert tan) version in it. Asked if they would match Dick's price. They said yes, then got another 25 off buy appling for Cabelas's visa.
Lipseys is out of stock of thier threaded version.
By the time I ordered from anywhere else and paid my area outrageous dealer fees, It was only a few dollars different.

388+35+(best ffl fee for me is 50)=$473
500-75= 425 local purchase and I have a threaded front end

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

You might want to check the threads though. As I stated before the Cabelas exclusive has a 1/2x20 thread I believe while most cans have a 1/2x28 threads. You would have to have it re-threaded

Re: Cabelas MKII TR .22

Thanks, I will check on the threads.
I will probably remove the brake and install a thread protecter for now. Then look for a flash hider if I can find one.
