Northern CA
After a quick trip up to north eastern CA to drop some stuff off I went through Reno and stopped at Cabelas to grab a few items. Simple stuff that I could grab and get back on the road to beat traffic at the "spaghetti bowl".

3 things... Boot laces ( in the shoe area), a can of water proofing spray to put on the snow gear before I put it a way (in the clothing area) and fly floatant for the open of trout season(in the fishing section). On the way in I see those foam noodle things that kids play with and think I will grab two of those for the kids to use rather than sticks.

I have my route planned out so back to the shoe section.... as I am walking back this 20 something approached and asked if I had heard about their new travel promotion. Nope but can you tell if laces are still in the shoe section I ask. No answer but she kept on with her pitch. She was like a pit bull. Finally I realized she was pitching a time share program. So I interrupt and ask her that pointedly. After some back and forth she admitted that was the case.

More time was spent trying to break free than it would have taken me to get all the things I needed including those stupid foam noodle things.

Is it just me? What is wrong with you that you think letting the biggest time share company put a space in the middle of your store with 3 people dressed up just like Cabelas people makes sense?!? I talked with the manager, who has been in that store, long before BPS bought them, and she said they get a ton of complaints about the time share people but the owner doesnt care. Johnny Morris, the owner of BPS, should remember that it was not his savvy nor intellect that allowed him to buy Cabelas. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If he loves the idea of selling timeshares in his stores then I cant see them being around much longer and I think it sort of proves my previous comment.

So......I didnt buy anything then and, after that experience, I wont be back in.

I just tell them I don't want their spam mail and robo calls. They walk away.

Same story here in the Bass Pro Shop. I just shook my head and kept walking...

i guess cabelas makes good money off of that, but in my opinion pissing off your customers has a price associated with it.

Also... in Cabelas, the price that rings up for all gun stuff never matches the price on the display.

Those are huge stores for the number of people I see in them!

Had I known that they had that sort thing in Cabela's I would have told her to get a real job. Not sure I will run into them again as I wont likely go back in.

I was just surprised how far they have sunk.

A long time ago (ok not THAT long) in a galaxy far, far away, TheGerman worked at TheMall™ in his teenage years. At some point it added on another wing and in came Bass Pro. After putting alot of other stores out of business or having them vastly cut any inventory that Bass Pro would sell, they also started advertising that they needed some retarded amount of new employees.

I decided to check in and on this, because why not, and applied. This was probably my first encounter with bullshit corporatism.

After literally 2 interviews, a fucking scan tron 'test' asking you dumb shit like 'I strongly agree/disagree/am indifferent' to watching cows fuck and all sorts of other dumb shit, I made it to the Final Boss stage. Something stuck out as weird right off the bat as I had applied after having moved up to 'Front End Customer Service Manager' at another larger store in the mall; basically I was in charge of all of the register people, made schedules and dealt with whiny ass customers. Once the 'final' interview started, I was trying to figure out exactly what fucking job was I even here for. The guy went round and round about opportunity and how they're doing things other stores dont and blah blah....ok, so whats the fucking job, guy?

Since I had 'people skills' (LOLOLOL @ that idea) I was told, in a very long and roundabout way, about how they wanted to pay me less than what I was already making, with an unlimited earning commission 'opportunity' (theres that word again) to help people realize how awesome it would be to get into a timeshare and go on vacation for a fraction of the price or some dumb shit that at 17, already knew was scam level bullshit.

I think the look on my face as well as my follow up answer of ' Well, Im not too interested in trying to sell people things they dont want or need, but what about the open front end manager position?' didn't go over too well.

Branson is a time share mega-capital. Johnny Morris is King of Branson - Top of the Rock is incredible. Its a scummy industry. That said, I have a friend that CLEANS up in that field.

Ever since bass pro bought cabelas it’s been in the shitter... they absolutely gutted cabelas and it really shows. It used to be one of my favorite stores. I still stop in every once in a while for the one off camping/shooting/clothing gear I need. Haven’t seen a timeshare company in mine yet but thanks for the heads up

For sure is a marketing strategy, but not so good, in my opinion. As I see many people have thoughts like mine, we don't see the need for anon ultra Note device. This time they didn't make a good choice. Probably their strategy was not very good and did not coincide with the opinion of the world. It is imperative to choose the right team that makes our plan and strategy to attract customers. The fame of your business depends on them. When I opened my own business I chose my specialists very carefully, and by the way, everything is excellent and I thank them a lot :)

What’s an “anon ultra Note device” and does it stop spam?

They never ask me. I must give off a poors or fuck off aura.

Same here.

The 1 time I have one try and go after me I'm waiting to stare him dead in the eyes and ask if the hookers and blow come with the place, and ask if a 500 credit score will get me financing.

I swear they can see that I'm willing to waste their time, and they avoid me.

Remember when people would just say “No thank you” and ignore solicitors while going about their life, vs. being outraged on the interwebs?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

My dad had Parkinson's.
As a result he like to use the store electric "rascals".
He didn't drive for shit and would play dumb when running over asshole sales people.
Poetry getting to the gun counter.

Unfortunately when bps finally takes over Sportsman's Warehouse it's going to be more of the same bs.

Wife and I went to Hawaii, when we checked into the condo we stopped by the concierge to book some things. When we were there she offered us a free catamaran trip if we were will I get to listen to a sales pitch. Sure why not.

so into the sales pitch, it was a time share presentation. Filled out their little questionnaire, made it look like we were prime for the taking and you could see them getting gitty to sell. Listened to their whole deal stringing them along hard core. End of the the deal comes they are convinced they have a sale made and it’s written all over their faces. Man was it fun watching their faces change when we let them down hardcore.
