caliber change? rebarrel...

I have a sako model 85 varmint...* short action 243 that needs a new barrel....**

what should i do?* I have a 260 and 6.5 grendel and 22 250... all options are open

I do not have one, but I really like the 6 SLR. Very similar ballistics to the 243AI, but your case prep will be drastically reduced and I would guess barrel life would increase.

308 just so you have a heavier grain bullet to take game better. I have a 260 rem and would like to add a 308 or 300wm so I can still do range work but have confidence in bigger game

I just went through the exact same scenario, where I had to choose one of them with re-barreling a .243. The "general" consensus of the hide was to stick with the .243. The members pointed out all the various options and what they liked. I really appreciated all the input.

243 with a 105gr+ bullet is pretty tough to beat for your intentions described

That's what I chose, but I wanted to shoot comps with it, too. If not for the comp's speed limit I would have gone 6SLR.
