Caliber for new build - 260 vs 7-08 vs 284

The 260 is still a capable cartridge and will easily make it to a mile as I've watched guys hit at a mile with it. It just takes much better wind calls to get you there.... </div></div>

^^ this...I reached the same conclusion after asking myself the same questions as the OP is asking. The 7-08 is better in the wind because of the BC of the 162 Amax, the .284 is better than both but I liked how the 7-08 fit in my action better so I went with it.

Re: Caliber for new build - 260 vs 7-08 vs 284

I'm biased but I like the 260. It's the smallest of the three and it'll still connect at a mile in the right hands. It's gaining steam and more mfrs are jumping on board with ammo and components. At this point anything in the 6.5/7mm realm will be solid.

284win is a good choice.

I have a 7mm WSM using a surgeon short action with notched feed ramps and don't have a problem running Berger 180grs at 2930fps. Extracting unfired rounds have been no problem either for me.
