1st thing that popped in my head also .
'Where' ??? McD's do you need private Armed Sec. . How bad does it get trying to get your fish Filet and Fries ?

As if it is even possible....LOL , It has to Bad news reporting ? .
It Makes more sense, It must have just been a Armed Sec. just choosing that time in eating some McD's and the shit went down right then . Because I have never heard of any McDonald's ever hiring Armed Sec.
.
Edit Add :
Well It new one for me ? 1st thing I do is Google.. ( Where armed Sec. McDonaold's ) . And Chicago IL. , ' McD's has Armed Sec.' there and a altercation Video on the Web .

He then got out and ran across the street to a nearby McDonald’s, during which time he undressed completely.

Deputies said the man, now naked, entered the McDonald’s and stabbed an 88-year-old man who was eating with his grandson.

Kudos to the security guard for the good shoot. In a slightly more ideal world though, it would have been satisfying if the article read: "An 88 year old man and his grandson were eating at a nearby table when the grandson noticed the deranged man with the knife bearing down on his grandfather. The young man drew his pistol and fired twice at the knife wielding assailant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else suffered any injuries".

There are lots of places where McDonald's needs armed security, more for KFC.

I know an Applebee's manager who has security at her restaurant.

All "urban" areas.
