I bought a new (open box) Steiner from CameraLand this week at a significant discount over a new one.
What a deal on basically a brand new never mounted optic.
I talked with Neil In the rifle scope dept. a few times before I bought it, he was very patient throughout... I know these guys must deal with a lot of tire kickers.
They shipped yesterday and it arrived today (I live in a neighboring state).
The scope is, well, it's a brand new Steiner, with the trick DT elevation turret and excellent illumination dial, MSR reticle, stellar glass, yada yada. Fan-effing-tastic.
I called CameraLand to thank Neil, and he's not in today. Instead I talked to Doug, who is a member here (I recognized him from his posts).
This is the 2nd time I've been highly impressed by a Hide vendor who has his finger on the pulse of the industry (the first time was talking to Scott at Liberty Optics) and has a genuine interest in improving the "state of the art". Doug even suggested that I report back to him on my impression of the scope and any criticisms I have after using it for a bit; imagine, someone being interested in MY opinion!
I urge anyone looking at buying new gear, give a Hide vendor a call, it will be a great experience. I can personally vouch for CameraLand, Liberty Optics, Mile High Shooting, SAC, EuroOptic, and CS Tactical, but I bet the ones I haven't bought from (yet) are great, too.
