Anyone have a good site or two for buying quality camping gear on the net? I have finally decided Cabela's sucks and Academy is just a little limited in selection. That's about my options for retail stuff.

Re: camping gear websites

thanks gentlemen. Just getting to where I hate to deal with retail outlets because they seem to never have what I see online. Walked into Cabela's on the way to camp with a gift card, needing stuff (of course) and walked out with nothing...except with a decision that I wouldn't waste my time again. REI is a good one though. Go by there when is Austin. Backcountry looks good and should save me some tax.

Re: camping gear websites

Bought a lot of good outdoor gear at CAMPMOR since about 1980.

If you are ever in Maine near the LL Bean shop, ask a local about the Outlet store. Wow. Was visiting the SERE school at leatherneck birthday time one year and left with fall and winter hunting clothes for me, my dad and one brother, winter coats for 3 women in my family, 2 backpacks for kids in school, 9 heavy shirts and 4 pairs of trousers for casual work, not to mention mittens, gloves, a light pair of outdoor boots, and a snowboard. Needed people to help carry all the bags to my truck. Total cost = $219. Cash. Granted, later I found a button missing...
