Can a Savage 10 be converted to left hand?

My Google-fu has failed me on this one. Can a Savage 10 be converted to a left bolt - right port configuration by switching the bolt handle and modifying the stock? I heard the Savage 10/110 action was designed to be used with either a left or right handed bolt handle but I haven't managed to find any that have been switched over.

Yes and no.

Yes it can be done, but no it's not as easy as changing the bolt.

It requires the receiver lugs to have the "cams" cut on the other side.

I have done it for a friend - it is quite a job but works perfectly.

So this is definitely not a job for an amateur like me. Good to know it's possible, though. Thank you. l'm always amazed at the combined amount of knowledge on this forum.

you can get a model 11 action in left hand i believe. all of the short actions are the same except left or right handed. then some are stainless some are blued. the thing with the 10 series is they are "LE" or tactical and have a non reflective coating. the triggers are different among the 10, 11, 12, 14 series too. you might look for a varmint in lefty if you dont already have the action/rifle.

I have a 10 precision carbine. Savage sells target actions that are right handed but load/eject on the left, I thought it would be a nice option to have the opposite. I've always shot right handed rifles lefty and I like having the port on the side I can see better but I don't like having to break position to cycle the bolt. Honestly I'd be fine with a normal left hand action, just curious to know if there are other options.

they do some odd configurations in the target or varmint series i think. target is all single feed though. but there are a few options. look at the savage site for the receivers only section
