Hi,new here. Spending my tax refund on setting up a rifle for my wheelchair bound nephew. So far i bought the rifle-Mdl 700 SPS,Varmint,.308,26" The scope I've chosen is the 10x42 SWFA Super Sniper. I have no way to check mount heights so here's my question: Which Tactical weaver style mount and heavy rings will keep the scope low as poss without hitting the barrel? I figured someone on this forum has this set up? I still have to buy a stock & bipod and some other stuff for him,so mid low cost is a goal. Thanks very much.

Re: Can anyone help?

I can't help you with the scope height, but I can tell you to not waste a lot of time looking for help from Weaver. I did the same set up for a friend. I called Weaver - never got through to anyone. Left message, but it was never returned. Also sent a couple of emails, but no response. They do have a table hidden away on their site somewhere, but it was too confusing to read. Mounted a Nightforce NXS w/50mm objective to a Rem Sendero (varmint barrel - not SPS) using a Weaver 20 MOA rail and Weaver high tactical rings. Probably should have gone with medium height.

Ya,I just figured someone would chime in and say "oh yeah,I've got a 700 tac with ****brand picatinny base and ****brand low rings and it just clears the barrel with my 42mm super sniper" Then we'd know what to buy.
