I have a Colt LW Commander which has been customized and coated. I'm not sure what coating was used, I would have to pull the invoice. It's two tone, OD and Black. I don't like the OD Green and would like to re-coat in all black. Never shoot it, hate the way it looks.

My question is, Can this be done with Cerakote?

It is not recommended to cerakote over cerakote. NIC specifically states this.

With any coating it is always better to remove the current and get down to bare metal. The end result will be much nicer.

When applying Cerakote you media blast with a 120 grit abrasive first, so that will remove your current coating anyway.

Here is my gun, the frame just looks "pea" green and too shiney
