Can I put a Surgeon Bolt Knob on an Impact???

Hi all.
I'm a sucker for my Impact actions. I am also a sucker for the classic OG Surgeon Pineapple bolt knobs. I'd love to see my Impact wearing the Surgeon bolt knobs.

1. Will the Surgeon Bolt Knob go right the Impact bolt handle without issue?
2. If not, is there an adapter that makes this work?
3. If yes, is the thickness of the Surgeon bolt knob and the Impact handle the same, making for a smooth transition, or is this a problem?

I feel like I've seen a picture of this a long time ago, but I haven't found anything online that appears to be a turnkey solution. Please let me know if I am missing something obvious!

If the action side is bigger thread, maybe have the pineapple resized to that larger thread?

Yes you can, I prefer the surgeon style knob as well....... it matches fine but I think it needed a short piece of threaded adaptor due to both the bolt and handle having female threads.

How old is your Impact?

The original Impacts could take the same knob but I thought they changed the root diameter and thread of the handle stub a couple of years ago.
I sold a lot of the KMW knobs for installation on Impact 737s then had to change the web page to reflect it no longer working.

Did they change back again?

Mine date to the first year of manufacture as both are sub 100 serial number...... I'm not familiar with the current spec but the thread title caught my attention as I've got the surgeon knob on my impact!

Gotcha.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they are not interchangeable now per my post above.

I do not have any in the shop right now to double check.
Maybe someone can chime in to confirm.

I have both in front of me.........

The Surgeon is .850" in diameter, and 2.136" in total length. The "shank" is .430" in diameter and .450" in length. Both the main body and the tapered section of the Surgeon is longer than the Impact knob.

The Impact is also .850" in diameter; but shorter at 1.820" in total length. The shank of the Impact is .405" in diameter and .380" in length.

Both of these are threaded 5/16" x 24 and the Impact is recent (new). So yes it will thread on, but the diameter will not match perfectly and the added length may or may not bring it closer to your optic. I'll have to check that.
