Hey guys. I have a Rem700p that is essentially stock. Im sending out to have a Krieger heavy varmint barrel installed and to have the action trued up and that whole cup of tea. My question is, will my stock HS Precision stock support that big fat Krieger after I remove basically half of the fore end to make it fit? Mind you, the barrel will be hacked off at 20 inches so it'll be a touch lighter that say a 30 incher, but still pretty dang heavy. I DO plan on getting a McMillan or Manners at some point, but my wallet is empty for now so Id love to be able to shoot the beautiful barreled action Ill have in my hands here soon. Thanks, and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: can i use my stock stock

heavy varmint contour I think is essentially what you have in the 700P, or very similar to a Sendero Contour as well. Shouldn't have to be opened up to much if any.

But, I have been wrong. Once.

Re: can i use my stock stock

kind of what i thought....just figured id ask in case there was some trick-o-the trade method i was missing out on. Now, last question: My rifle was glass bedded to the stock sendero contoured barrel. The bedding only touches the barrel for about an inch and a half, then its free floated to the end. Do i need to grind out and re-do my bedding ONLY where the barrel was, OR re-bed the whole s.o.b? I sure hope i don't have to redo it cause my goodness what a pain that would be. Thank y'all very much for your inputs.
