I live in Ohio and heard about a gunsmith by the name of Jim Caudill AKA Mauser Man in Sunbury, Ohio. Are any of you familiar with his work and would you recommend him for a tactical rifle build? Thanks

Re: Can you recommend Jim Caudill "Mauser Man"

Jim installed a 9 twist 27" Kreiger light varmint contour on a Winchester model 70, 223 wssm caliber for me three years ago. I couldn't get 75 A-Max's or 70 Berger VLDs to group consistently in it. So I ended up shooting 55 V-Max's in it - 1/4 MOA. The rifle shot a groundhog last summer at 823 yards.
The scope had to have 5 MOA windage in it for a 100 yard zero.
That barrel is now shot out at 1300 rounds at 3935 MV.
Two months ago, Gerald Kuthy (Custom Blue, LLC) installed a 8 twist 30" Kreiger light varmint contour in a different caliber - 243 wssm Match. Now the scope doesn't need any windage correction.
Jim does good work and his prices are very reasonable. But I think Gerald does better work.

Try Dave Carver, in Minerva OH - IT&D Custom - 330.868.6867 - probably in the 'better work' category as well - and is very fair on his pricing.
