Super, young man. Great talent, even better character. Single elimination 104 teams - they took it all last week. What a hoot to watch!

Ok can’t help it again...grandson’s 13 yr Florida team has been smoking tournaments across the country
Just this ending took it all handing California the loss in the Las Vegas championship

17 years old now, summer between jr/sr yr HS. Playing on 2 travel ball teams all over from SE Sates to Omaha and the DR. Just finished a few Tournaments in NC, ATL and FL. All highest level Invitationals, headed to Omaha for the big one in July. Recruited by lots of D1, best D2 in the Country. Hasn’t hit maturity yet, so doesn’t razor not required - only going to get bigger and stronger.

A clip from ATL Wooden bat championship series last week:

Is he the kid playing with the pretty flowers in the background?

Slightly more serious note, kid looks like he has a bright future.

Give him three pieces of the world’s simplest advice — if you haven’t already.

#1 - “The 3 Stupids Rule” — Don’t go stupid places, with stupid people, and do stupid things.

#2 - “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” Doing something dumb never ends well, even if you survive.

#3 - A clean conscience makes a soft pillow. Always be the first to do the right thing. Don’t wait for or expect someone else to do it.

Coached by Gary Sheffield for 6 years, playing with his boys as well. Noah and Christian Sheffield will definitely get drafted one day. Now has several former Pros in his training regimen. He needs a few more years of maturity I think before he gets significant opportunities at that level. Although an area Agent for 4 teams is following him currently and has talked to my son about his projectability being excellent.

That’s great. I remember those days other than we didn’t have travel ball back in the day. We played American legion. It was the big stuff back then. I played at Mississippi state in the 80s. I blew out my shoulder my senior yr of highschool. Too much throwing g. I was projected as a second round pick out of highschool until that happened. So I ended up going to college. Not my plan. Tell him to stay clean, work hard- smart, don’t over do it. And most of all have fun playing the game. Because that’s what it is, a game!

That’s great! My son is 13 and has a lot of the tools but lacks size, it’s coming though. My nephew just finished his first D1 baseball season, is in the Prospect League this summer batting .320+. Tell Dominic to live in the weight room, get big and strong. Look at the guys from CWS a few weeks ago, all ripped, strong and lean. Will keep an eye out for him. Had I known I would’ve looked for him in Atlanta a few weeks ago. We were headed home from a tourney and stopped to see a friend’s 17U kids pitch. May have been the same tourney.

He did very well. So well, that The Detroit Tigers brought him into their Scout team tournament. Lots of D1 College offers over the last few years, but after these tournaments He chose JUCO State College of Florida - Yankees, Dodgers and Rockies scouts all wanted him to go SCF after his senior HS season.

You are right to be proud of him.

Awesome stuff! Juco is the way to go for kids out of HS now. Tell him to get as strong and fast as he can. There's more power in that swing and his body can handle a lot more mass!
My nephew went D1 out of HS, limited playing time so he went Juco 2nd year and killed it. Will be a North Dakota State Univ. next year.

    Best of luck to Dominic!

Yes, he needs more mass for sure. He is following his Dad and I genetically, he has not touched a razor yet. I gained 30 lbs of muscle mass by my 2nd year in and he will be a beast one day. He works hard, has lots a great former pro players helping him out, it will come in his time. As all the scouts keep repeating “very protectable”

My daughter’s boyfriend does travel ball all over the country and had a D2 offer but said he’s going JUCO to hopefully get D1 offer. Kid is committed to baseball and just works out and plays. That’s it. He’s a pitcher only for his travel team but plays outfield for the High School team. Cannon for an arm and can hit. Unfortunately he’s not 6’ tall so probably won’t get much attention.

If he has skills and a work ethic, he will find a spot in JUCO. If he continues to work, improve, add size and strength then performs on the field, he will get some looks after JUCO. The transfer portal has really messed things up for college baseball and unless you're a super stud out of HS, D1 is out of reach and not the best move for freshmen. Keep working and grinding!!

Have to add. We had a local kid go to Bama as a pitcher and got drafted. Had Tommy John’s surgery twice and is pitching in the Twins affiliate. Haven’t heard much lately about him but I haven’t looked either.

@DetroitRearView even if the grandson makes it to D1 and doesn’t go any farther it’s still quite the accomplishment and hopefully the best times of his life.

He turned down several D1 programs, being advised many with plenty of pro experience - that SCF was his best choice. Several agents follow him and all the reports include “very projectable” - He really needs 2 more years to physically mature.
