Suppressors cant find my trust paperwork!

I created a trust for my first suppressor and now I'm trying to buy some more NFA stuff and can't find my paperwork! What can I do? I should have the original trust in digital form on my old comp, but it isn't notorized. Can I print a new copy and just get that motorized? Or am I screwed till I find the original copy?

Always make duplicate copies of your trust and NFA paperwork w/stamp. Keep original in safe deposit box or a good gunsafe. I keep a copy of paperwork in each vehicle and each Pelican transport case. You never know when you might need them.Have an attorney create you a new trust it is not worth the chance of an illegal possesion beef. ATF is starting to crack down on trusts created just for purpose of avoiding local LEO signature.

But if he creates a new trust won't that require me to transfer the NFA items I have through the ATF from the old trust to the new one?

You can create a new trust for new items. But if you wanted to transfer your other items yo that trust it would be 200 dollars each item and you cant find your paper work so that would not work. You better just find your paper work.

You should be able to work from the digital copy. Can you get a new copy notorized? Whose signature was notorized?

ALWAYS send a copy of the notorized trust when you send in the form 4 not the original. It stays in the safe or safe deposit box.

Get your local LEO to sign off. Most of them arent douchebags, and will sign the paperwork.

If you can't find the documentation, I'd seriously consider hiring an attorney and asking them to contact the ATF on your behalf. Once everything is documented, a decent probate attorney should be able to re-write the trust per the ATF's direction.

So many variables exist with Trust documentation between states, a forum probably isn't the best place to seek technical legal advice.

Whichever way you choose, let us know how things turn out.

Print it back out...... have it notarized, make copies and this time keep it where you know you can find it. If you keep the same name of the original trust you will have no issues. I had the cheapo Quicken version and recently got mine rewritten by a lawyer. Kept the same name as my original trust and the ATF told me I was good to go.
